Reality:
Rec = Fun
Travel = competitive fun and maybe a college or two noticing your kid at Disney
NPL = Expensive competitive play, some fun, a couple colleges looking at your kid
ECNL = Very expensive, very competitive play, (girls only - boys still travel level talent), some fun, HS ball if your player chooses, a large number of colleges coming to the tourney. Good chance your player could play college somewhere if college soccer is your goal. Limited outside chance of nat'; camp invites.
DA = Can be expensive depending on your club, very competitive play, all the colleges come to all the tourneys (boy and girl). Fun is not the point. Good chance your player could play college somewhere if college is the goal. Good chance for Nat'l invites for the truly talented. Best shot at the US for pro/MNT and WMNT. After the reset with the MNT, we shall see what effect that has with players coming up through DA.
Conclusion:
There is a program for every kid. You need to figure it out by U14-ish otherwise, you will be throwing good money after bad.

This year they applied for both again and got shutout again. Clearly the message from US Soccer is that you don’t develop. You only recruit from other clubs. Let’s see how you spin it this time around.

Reality check for all of you.... none of this really matters! Get a life, DA NO DA it’s so irrelevant! Looking for that golden ticket to a D1 school for your kid? Send them to ID camps if your kid is good and they have what it takes they will get offers, if not well move on and stop living your lost dreams through your kid.

Finally...Someone who lives in the real world. All this DA & ECNL talk about kids wont get recruited if you are not playing at that level. Ridiculous nonsense!!! Emily Madril from FSU never player DA or ECNL. All it took it was one look from Mark and he offered her a scholarship on the spot. If you are quality, you are quality period.

You know its bad at TBU when their DOC has to put on a coaching license course to make sure their coaches have their "D" licensed for State Cup a month before State Cup starts????
I wonder is there was any bias to who passed and who did not. Did the DOC just give out the license like candy on Trick or Treat.
US Soccer should investigate.

Investigate what? Everyone knows D licenses are pretty much handed out. If you fail the D license, then you have no business coaching.

I really kind of feel bad for TBU and it's parents. Every year they keep hoping and hoping. They keep looking at each other and say "gosh darn-it, people like us", only to be rejected, over and over and over again. Every year they are at the bottom of the DA and sometimes not winning a game all year. Then you throw in all the off the field scandals and controversy, it is downright embarrassing to the area. Finally, from what I hear, people all over are starting to realize what is going on at TBU. At least the top players are starting to realize it.

Being at TBU is more like working for a great company and you just hope that some j*rks don't hire into the organization and screw it all up. Really are no scandals or controversies and the only thing TBU parents keep hoping and hoping for is that the psycho parents that are miserable at surrounding clubs stay there! Our kid has been recruited by two clubs with DA and while she is flattered she has no interest in joining either club! Informed parents at TBU know exactly what is going on - they have it great!
