Who is getting the boys soccer coach job at new canaan?

I guess some of you were right about JJ.
Is he staying there as a JV coach?
All coaches were told that their services were no longer needed. RS is bringing his own staff to Trumbull. What is JJ going to do now? Maybe a CFC-tritown deal?

Why would CFC be interested in two-bit Tritown? CFC has plenty of coverage in that area.

And while we're talking about NC sports, the girls field hockey team has been a state finalist the last three years, winning two state titles. The boys football team has won 7 state titles in the past decade. The lacrosse program has put the boys and girls teams into the state finals 12 times since 2010. So one can see how these sports might be cannibalizing the soccer teams.

But the U11 girls just won the CT Cup, and girls and boys are starting to push out to various local clubs with a few ECNL United participants. So all in all, I'd say the soccer program is running along like any other travel program in Fairfield County. Couple of hits, couple of misses. But there is a lot of talent pushing up through the program and it will be interesting to see if the organization can keep the kids interested.

Anyway, beat the hoopleheads from Darien and all is well.
I coach in a LL school and I tell you that we still, across all sports, urge our athletes to participate in multiple sports. I have many of my players that spend the rest of the year playing basketball, indoor track, outdoor track and lacrosse. Even a couple of softball players as well. The boys team puts many into track, basketball, lacrosse, swimming and even volleyball. Because of that, we are able to field freshman teams in several sports. Sure, the numbers help, but all this comes from multiple sport participation.

Now go talk to the college coaches and ask them in general, do they prefer athletes with just a single sport expertise or do they favor athletes that have multiple sports in their backgrounds? This is a soccer site, so just ask the college soccer coaches. You know what their answer will be.....

If you have an AD that pushes multiple sports participation at your Class M school, as we have at our Class LL school, then you have an AD that gets it. That's the job of the AD, to promote participation in sports by as many kids as possible into as many sports as they are eligible to participate in.

College soccer coaches prefer athletes who can play soccer. If they have also played other sports that's a plus. If you are a mediocre soccer player it doesn't matter that you lettered in track

                    .
My kid is a four sport letterman. She was recruited a lot, mostly D3. Will be playing college.

But let me point this out, and be clear about it: college soccer coaches care about the athleticism, size, and soccer skills of your kid, 20%, 40%, 40% (size and soccer skills weighted about the same).

That's it. They couldn't care less if your kid got a letter in varsity softball or basketball. Multisport matters not one whit. They care about soccer.

Anyone who says anything different is lying or trying to sell you something.

I can only go by what many college soccer coaches say....

There's a ton of articles, literature and interviews out there that have a lot of the major college coaches saying the same thing....all things being equal, they favor the multi-sport athlete over the specialist.

Their interviews and opinions....documented.......just take a look for yourself.

All things being equal is key phrase. EQUAL

Two great players playing same position they will favor the more athletic.

Be honest. Ties like that don't happen often.

Soooo, in the event that this happens, they pick the multisport athlete?

Candidate A, soccer only, athletic, has size, good soccer skills.
Candidate B, multisport, athletic, has size, good soccer skills.

I suppose, that in the unlikely event that Candidate A and Candidate B are equal, a coach might pick Candidate B.

Otherwise, they pick based on athletic, size, and soccer skills, and multisport has no bearing.

Then why do many of those same coaches recruit international soccer players.

Ray Reid brought in two Canadian and one French youth national players. It wasn't for their curling or team hand ball experience

To be more clear, if Candidate B, the multisport candidate, is less athletic, less large, or has less soccer skillz, Candidate A gets picked every single time.

I have seen college coaches talk about valuing multisport athletes, and they do if they don't have a better candidate. Why do college coaches say this? I dunno, maybe they think it's what the interviewer wants to hear or that saying this makes them seem to be a better human being? Regardless, they are lying or trying to sell you something.

Let me point this out, and be clear about it: completely making up specific percentages about what all college soccer coaches care about makes you out to be a bit of a windbag.

PS - I do happen to agree with the rest of your post however.
