Yes.
No.
Maybe.
It could be a love fest. It could go very wrong. Or anywhere in between. Coaches invite their top prospects first, those most likely to get offers. But a player (and parents) can blow it or there might not be any general chemistry. A good sign but not a guarantee.

Yes.
Yes (although I haven't heard of that I'm sure it happens)
Also - social media checks, last of responsiveness to phone calls or emails, a read by the admissions office.
Also, like the poster said sometimes there just isn't chemistry. Nearly all visits involve spending time with future teammates so interactions come into play there as well. Your player may not get a good vibe from either the coach or players, in which case it may all be for the best. Sometimes even when on paper everything lines up, your gut tells you something else.

If you are talking just a VISIT, that doesn't mean anything. If it was initiated by the coach, there is a good chance there will be an offer. If you initiated it, less likely

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYou are making a good point to differentiate between an unofficial and official visit, but you should also clarify what an offer is. There are verbal offers and there are official written ones. Normally one is as good as the other since everyone should live by their word, but the truth is that verbals do sometimes get broken by either party. A verbal offer really isn’t enforceable because it is made by the coach, not the school. You are incorrect that an offer is already made in every case that an official visit is made. That is not true. Sometimes there is no offer of any kind and you get an official visit which may or may not lead to an offer. Sometimes there is a verbal offer followed by an official visit. It’s rare that they give you a written offer prior to an official visit.
As far as screwing up the visit, I think you definitely can. Using your phone while being shown around, or parents talking money right off the bat are red flags, but I'd say each case and school are different

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIf you make it as far an official visit, they clearly have a high level of interest and the offer is for you to lose at that point. Our experience was that each school has their own format for the visit, but that each is designed to both wow/welcome you to the school/program and let them see how you really are, especially around your new teammates. It’s also your chance to see if it’s a good fit and show interest. Think of it as an all-day/night job interview. Your player can blow it by acting immature or disinterested.
2 Official visits - paid by school registered with NCAA
prior comms indicate priority recruit, but no offers (per rules)
I feel like all parties are looking for fit.
Offers will follow visit IF match is made

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostTotally disagree. Bad advice here. About 50% of my daughter’s friends/teammates who are going D1 were committed prior to August of their junior year and the other half committed after August of their junior year. Most of the later ones were in the fall of junior year from Sept-Nov but a few were Feb-April. And official visits were all done prior to the offer.

No official contact until June 15, no official visits until Aug 1, nor could official offers go out until then. Many of the players who were committed earlier were allowed under the old rules. In theory, moving forward, more will be on the same playing field. In theory any way.
On another note those ‘03 birth year kids seem to get slammed with every new change.
