In the last year of youth soccer, clubs with ECNL and NPL struggle to have NPL teams. Kids drift away. So, they throw together an ECNL team that isn't really ECNL; it's just NPL.
If your kid has been recruited to play college, this is a good way to keep her fitness up for the season. If your kid isn't going to play college, but wants a place to play, ECNL Compost can fill that need, too.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNo, it’s not. Lol. It’s an ECNL Composite team. There already is an NPL team in each age group. It was formed because of the age group change. When US Soccer went to the Jan 1 birth date, they had a bunch of kids that were U19’s but still in HS. So they did a combined U18/19 age group and with the large numbers of players affected, they formed two teams. Originally was only supposed to be a few years to make sure no one was left without a place, but it appears here to stay. ECNL Comp falls between ECNL and NPL.
CFC has alsoused the the team to solve roster issues. So for instance, if the whole U17 roster was healthy and some players were no going to get to dress for the game, they would roster some on the Composite team, effectively giving giving the 17s more playing time.
Bottom line, ECNL talent, playing an ECNL schedule/competition

If it’s a true ECNL team, ECNL should call the 2 teams:
U18 ECNL
U19 ECNL
and leave this confusing “U18/U19 Composite” crud.
Better yet, why doesn’t ECNL get smart and just do their leagues and teams by grade/grad year? They’d pull more kids away from GDA and help with recruiting! They can still just go by the older birth year of the grade level to be compliant with USSF.
