And obviously they want no part with giving their current assit coaches a shot.

Current asst will get the job next week. It’s a tough job with a lot of travel in conference but it’s a place that can become a winner easily.

I like to think they would have offered one of their 2 current assist coaches the position by now...

With the right hire, UConn is poised to be best womens program in New England. Easily. Great school with top notch facilities, strong support, and a history of success. Similar to Rutgers, UConn should compete for league championship and make a deep NCAA run every year. The future is bright for Husky blue and white.

Even then their location is a hindrance for many
Many people talk about Oakwood’s coaching, but why? Overall, it’s really good. For you to think otherwise would require explanation. If you think being a college coach is indication of coaching quality I feel sorry for your lack of understanding.

Guess how many A & B llicense coaches there are at CFC? Answer: less than ow and FSA. In fact, CFC has only 1 A license I believe.

Better than Harvard or BC? Nah.

Not anymore. They play in a weak conference. Why would a top player want to go hear and play weak opponents if a weak conference. Plus the weather stinks and Storrs is rural, farmland. You are a homer and living in fantasy land if you think UCONN women's soccer in its current state is tantalizing for anything more than just the athletic money they can provide. The allure and mystique of UCONN athletics has been fading for the past few years and they seem to be fading back to the Yankee conference and a small new england state university much like Maine, UNH, VT, UMASS, or URI. They better get to a big conference soon before it is too late (if it isn't already).

Agree, but there was aprox 22 D1 women's head coaching jobs open at seasons end,,currently now there is about 8-10. its now getting deep in the game and one has to only assume that UCONN is starting to scramble.

They won national championships in basketball and field hockey while being in the AAC. WV is a top program and its in a crappy school in an awful state. They can build a top ten program easily

Crappy school in a crappy state?

Do you think when an employer is conducting interviews the school the candidate graduated from really means that much? If you think yes, you’re kidding yourself.

I’m willing to bet your d could not get into wv, and I am almost certain she couldn’t play soccer there. Still crappy?

WVU is a crap school. So yes. I have been to WVU several times. I several kids who went there too.

No my daughter couldn’t play there but still doesn’t make it any less crap

If your daughter is a blue chip all American bball player go to icon. If geno will take her. If she is an awesome player and wants to be on a very compwtitive soccer team choose WVU. Compare both teams schedules .... WVU has a really tough schedule against great cimpetition week in and week out. Then look at UCONNs. Then look ay their records too for last season. Storrs is aboit the same as Morgantown with far lower cost of living .... Both farm towns in the middle of nowhere that don't offer much outside of the school.

The "competition" argument is silly. It's a sales pitch from the next and bestest, "elite" "academy" league, proffered so often to soccer sheep, it now masquerades as fact. Great competition week in and week out doesn't equate with deveopment. In fact, it stunts it. You want to face a mix, as teams learn different aspects from different situations. (The fact only a handful of colleges truly develop players is an entirely different discussion.)

Harvard and BC. A great academic school with no athletic scholarships, a shortened season, where winning soccer is a very distant priority for players, coach and administration. And a college that deludes it's students into thinking they're at Harvard, with crappy soccer facilities and even less support for soccer. These two best examples of UConn's competition make my point. If UConn makes a great hire, removes the impediment that Len T was over his last decade, the program can rise similar to Rutgers.
