2 years ago playing with USMNT vs Bolivia, now rostered on the San Diego Loyal (USL Minor league Soccer) at the end of their Covid season?

Only in the United States is this type of lunacy possible.

Feel bad for the guy, it's truly devastating.

I don't know, part of the ups and downs of being a professional soccer player.

One of the hard parts of projecting success based on breaking in in your late teens in Europe/Latin America - every year there is a new crop of players there to take your place. At 24, he is no longer young by their standards.

Wonder if he could break in with a MLS team; take on him was always that the MLS style would chew him up and spit him out.

He has still had a great career by Oregon standards.

Youth standard he is in rare company for Oregon, for sire.

Bur today many Oregonians play minor league soccer at his age, which brings him closer to par for the course.

This descent is only possible in US Soccer...tale as old as time...which sucks..

USA basketball players who represent us on our national team don't end up 2 years later at his age in the D league..

          This is unreal.

He’s still playing the game he loves. Maybe he considers that success

Kinda like Trump in two years begging on the street corner for change. Maybe he will consider that success

Since he will be still in the game of hoping for more handouts. Just like his pappy gave him.

There isn't a lot of players playing professional soccer from Oregon period. I wouldn't count NPSL or any less than USL 1st division as professional.

As far as breaking into MLS there is what, 50% of the player are American ?

Foot injury apparently ruined his career. While it wasn't an obvious career-ender, it cost him a year or so in the age which is make-of-break for a player on the fence, and he didn't have the same form afterwards.

                  Health matters in this game.

Requisite talent matters a bit more in this example.

                    Sorry, no spin zone.

Since you can make much more with a day job than playing minor league pro soccer why would any Oregonian give up a better paying job in the real world?

                      Did you mean 'south' americans?

He was looking quite sharp prior to the injury.

That said, he might have been dependant on pace more than touch; players like that are more likely to see a bigger drop in form following an injury.

But four years ago, he was quite good. Now he's essentially near the end of the line as far as a playing career goes.

                          Zero production, sealed fate.

Trumpy will be trying to avoid time in a cell in 2 years.

comparing him to RR in any post is a disservice to RR

Fair point, the kid never reached the status as a commander in Chief of the USA, just a journeyman reserve at a few minor league clubs.

Thanks for pointing this out, its really unfair comparison, i agree.
