Exactly - if a club wants to take a look, you get an invite.

        Supplemental tryouts means total desperation.

It's not going well by any measure. Smoked in the showcase at all ages and rumors of 8th and 9th grade players not buying in for next year.

It will be all NPL teams in 24 months. It's simply not working here at least not in the Northeast.

Traveling every weekend to play 30 minutes is awesome

They need to make GDA free to play (or highly discounted), and provide transportation to away matches to make it more attractive. Otherwise, it really does not offer much benefit.......1) No HS play, 2) poor competition in NE, 3) heavy travel, 4) restrictive substitution rules.....Furthermore, if USSF starts taking more girls from non-GDA leagues, particularly ECNL, for YNT camps then you really need to wonder if it is worth all of the fuss.

Free GDA will never, ever happen. Absolutely no way to justify the cost. Only way is if it were scaled back to a quarter of its present size and USSF foot the bill. Quality will go way up but travel gets worse.

                Thus the conundrum.

Daddy coaches. The shame. How is this club still occupying our thoughts and collecting "our" checks?

If its really about the nation's top players then USSF needs to stop using clubs to do the heavy lifting, both financially and in terms of training. But much of the GDA rollout was also about power and control so they went big, thinking they could put ECNL out of business. They underestimated the league appeal and the draw of HS soccer. If they want to be a large national league they need to change tactics. What they're doing isn't working at least not nationally

ECNL won big last year with most of the top clubs going All in with ECNL. More will come this year back to ECNL all in. Down goes GDA Down goes GDA. Good try though.

What tactics should GDA pursue in your opinion?

In an effort to differentiate themselves, they should establish conference select teams at the end of the season (top 30 players from the NE Conference as example) and have a month long residency camp in each region during the summer. The residency camp should be free of charge to the player. Top coaches should be hired to administer the camp.

Not a bad idea actually, but do you honestly expect ECNL coaches to administer the camp?
