Exactly, but teams are not forced to attend. Waste of time depending on what you are looking for. College coaches are participating in the playoffs and enjoying their family.

Top Hat U14 Girls DA beat SFFA(Boca United) U14 Girls DA 16-0. SFFA is a joke run by money hungry liars that want to keep their cushy jobs.

Disney, CASL, Jefferson Cup, ECNL & DA Showcase events are all public sites and it does not take too much effort to review the coach sign ups for each event.

While coaches do show up at Disney and such without signing up, if you have been doing this for a while with more than one kid you do some trends.

More D1 schools show up at ECNL and DA events (except ECNL Phoenix, that one is lame unless you are targeting a west coast school)

Disney and CASL numbers are down vs previous years. Still, a lot of coaches go but not in the same numbers and quality

For those coaches who go to events and do not register, that is primarily because they are going to see specific players whom they have already been in contact with and most likely seen game film of. They ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want every travel player, mom or dad blowing up their inbox asking for them to come see Suzy's and Timmy's games.

While they are there, your player may get noticed and they may ask the coach about your player. At that point, your player has a shot of being "discovered" but this is rare.

So before you spend all that money on Disney, CASL or Jefferson Cup did your player:

        -write the coach?
        -did they respond?
-with the coach after the tournament?
        -did they respond?
        -send game film?
-sometimes it easier to get a hold of the asst coach as they often handle the initial recruiting lists of players to be viewed.
        -send your showcase schedule?
-ask your coach or DOC if they are able to contact the coach on your players behalf? - your coach should be able to give you an honest assessment your players skill without you losing your mind if you don't get the answer you want.

I am on kid #3 with this insanity and we have made plenty of mistakes along the way. But, with a son playing D1 football, a daughter who played D1 soccer and quit after the 2nd year and a 3rd daughter in the recruiting process now for soccer, I know enough to know being am above average player and playing at a tournament is not going to work no matter how many coaches you saw sitting at the sideline at your kids game. Unless you did most of those things listed above, they are not there to see your kid.

It's nothing to get sensitive about, but just as an example, if you are hoping to be seen by UCLA or Stanford, there is a very strong chance they will not be there.

I'm not judging any school or program, but just stating facts.
Hmmm. Talk about how pathetically wrong this post was! Saw PLENTY of top D1 schools at Disney. You really need to get your head out of your azz mom

I have done college placement at a large club for many years and you are 100% accurate about the process. I might tell players to do some things differently, but this how you should approach it. Having an individual at a club that is well respected with college programs is important. That individual can make things happen for your child. Do not pay for recruiting services. None will be helpful; total waste of your time and money.
