Not OP but it seems the Stars U17 Blue team can only score and have success against the lower or middle of the pack teams. They seem to struggle against better competition as far as scoring goes.
Good team, just not a great team - which is probably why JD stays far away.

Socialist soccer I guess; everyone is the same. Are you a coach? From what I have seen up here, you very well could be.

Sometimes starters don't work hard because they are starters and subs can earn a starter position; or both can earn no playing time at all sometimes based on lack of performance, etc. And when subs come in, sometimes he switches kids in positions on the field which can be disruptive as well. Every opponent is different and should be coached accordingly.
As far as the game itself, so what if a team had 1 "very good NT striker" that means she would be double or tripled teamed. Knowing this, the others need to come alive and recognize it. Some teams have more than 1 NT on them; what will they do then, head for the locker rooms?

This isn't exactly news, but JD doesn't really do anything different to try and win games. Usually puts best 11 out first, subs come in with 15-20 mins left in the half. Subs start second half, starters come in with 20-25 mins left. We had JD for 5 years. It never changed. To be honest it drove us crazy, because we lost some we could have won, but he never changes it up.
He may have updated his MO slightly. Over past two years he still subs "sandwich style" with game starters sitting for end of first and start of second, then returning to finish game. For those that get subbed (e.g. all forwards) he alternates starters at all showcase events.

I do coach, and the way parents talk, they expect older teams to be better just because they are older. At this age (16/17) and level of play, all these girls are physically developed and athletic. Technical skills for this level are already at a certain level, and not much different between the two age groups. That leaves tactical, your "Soccer IQ". Cognitive development between a 15/16 and 16/17 yo girl at this level of play is not likely a significant factor. Coaches running sessions and developing a style of play at this level are all running similar training sessions and topics.
Bottom line, parents and posters getting worked up because a slightly older team couldn't score on a slightly younger team at this level of play and age for girls is sort of ridiculous. As to your assessment, no, not all soccer players are created equal. There is a huge drop off between the levels of play as opposed to the ages. Band the teams together based on level of play and you will still see close games regardless of age. Band the teams together based on age, and level of play will win out 9 times out of 10 from U15 up for girls.

As an example, my Ds club team back in 9th grade would have killed all but 5 HS Varsity teams across the state at that time. Level of play beats age once at HS age

Comparing a full club to HS as a point to win an age argument is hysterical.A team that’s older with talent level being equal will beat a younger team .
