I mean, is this the best reason you can come up with to stay with ECNL? I guess so since the local ECNL programs are such poor performers. I can see your thinking right now, let's try to smoke and mirror them by talking about how wonderful high school soccer is. Very funny, but mostly pretty sad.

This is a for profit company make no mistake.
US Soccer explicitly prohibits a try out fee.
This is not true. US Soccer doesn't care if you charge fees no matter what they are.

“The main issues at play are the denial of the many positive extracurricular experiences and activities that are offered in Oregon high schools,” said Jesuit boys soccer coach Chris Thurley. That “and the overall impact and strain placed on the student’s education and grades.”.

Sort of like how so many people thought that it was a good idea for THUSC to merge with LO to form ECNL teams and how those teams would be dominant. Now both clubs, but THUSC in particular, realize that this was a mistake and has caused significant damage to their reputation as a top girls club in the state.
Nothing wrong with someone changing their mind. You are trying to cherry pick old info and it is pretty transparent that you are grasping at thin air.
If his viewpoint did change though, your analogy doesn't involve an absolute fact. I think you may want to ask Chris before providing analogies using his name and supposed admitted incorrect ideals. I would bet any analogy he has for comparison sake (if his viewpoint is now different) would not include the acronyms or spelled out words of "Thusc" or "Lo".
Please provide proof Chris changed his viewpoint.

Wise teacher & coach. Choose carefully. If your dd has a legitimate chance at the USWNT or a pro soccer career and simply doesn't care much about school academics or social life, then GDA might be a good fit. Otherwise, ecnl or local club travel team will be a good fit. Don't be fooled that any choice will get a girl to a different end point though. The NT talent player will end up there even if they play for a local travel team. The players destined for Beavers, Ducks, Portland State, UoP, Willamette U, etc will all end up at the same soccer endpoint even if they do ecnl or gda. Enjoy whichever path is chosen because everyone only gets one childhood.

US Soccer mandates 4 minimum practices a week, plus excess travel, and ban on high school. Not a good fit for most top players.
