All GDA clubs wondering who they will be playing, and when this saga will end. Thorns are better off competing regionally again without GDA.

The girls da has been a mess. SoCal kept their best teams in ecnl. Now more teams fleeing GDA. Portland struggled to get top talent. Sigh.

It's common knowledge that the only top shelf clubs in So. Cal were selected & accepted for DA and those select clubs gleefully accepted. The tectonic shift in 2017-18 with establishment of the Girls DA reformed all the USYS & US Club leagues. Any movement going forward, to DA or back to USYS/US Club is not even an aftershock. Just some residual ripples. See our local clubs that migrated from worst to first in US Club restructuring, with so little talent they were never candidates for the DA & the NWSL franchise Thorns was instead given the nod. Life goes on.

Plus getting hammered each weekend was no longer the norm. Now they are considering coming back full time to the OYSA as parents aren't excited to travel all over the country to play teams that would struggle in the OYSA. They can't win no matter what they do, no pun intended. Bad Decisions.

They then lose the other half because like everyone already knows, they would get killed by a few OYSA teams and certainly wouldn't dominate.
It goes to show you that if you spend all your time recruiting on propaganda while underseveloping players for the sake of travel...you are left here.

This helps or hurts Thorns depending on how you look at it because Thorns are in the GDA conference with NorCal’s mostly weaker teams. Most top NorCal clubs turned GDA down and stayed with ECNL from the start.
