Darien - who are these people.

Darien won another 6 state titles, including football this past year.

Why does this town continue to dominate HS sports and send legions
of kids to play in college.

    Thoughts.

Men's and Women's lacrosse as pretty much a given. The other 4 are impressive.

Darien had another great year with 5 state championships and oddly enough no runner ups as they won all the finals they played in this year, but there were other successful programs as well in the large division
              1. Danbury with 4 championships and 2 runner ups
              2. Greenwich with 3 championships and 3 runner ups
              3. Ridgefield with 2 championships and 5 runner ups
4 Glastonbury with 2 championships and 3 runner ups

Note, this doesn't count the state open championships in the running and swimming competitions for example as for the most part, it would be duplicative, but still a feat.

One common denominator seems to be $$$$$$$ with the exception of Danbury these schools are on the list of wealthiest districts. Danbury though is a largest high school in the state, so they have the advantage of numbers (note Greenwich is second largest)

The key is that they are all huge schools with $ and tradition

So a high density of club players per team, fueled by money.

                  Reasonable.

But there has no be more.

                  Westport
                  Greenwich
                  New Canaan
                  Avon
                  Wilton
                  Ridgefield
                  Wilton
                  Weston
                  Newtown
                  Southbury
                  Guilford

All fall into the same demographic, yet no where near as successful.

To be sure, many are very successful in HS sports, but Darien is off the scale.

                  Think back to the AD.

The previous post shows ridgefield and Greenwich amongst the top performers in the state this year if you are talking all sports. If you are talking soccer, Darien hasn't done much on the girls side, but they did finish second to Glastonbury in 2015 and on the girls side, ridgefield has been to the last two state finals, losing both,

Wilton seems to always be a good side year in and year out, just not great. Newtown had a lot of success in the past on he girls side.

Southbury... no one is throwing them in with staples, Greenwich, Darien and Wilton from a wealth perspective and no one is throwing them in for soccer as a powerhouse. Not sure how you came up with them.

Newtown and Southbury definitely not the same demographic as most of the others. Some of those schools are much smaller as well - L vs LL.

Wilton has shown that tons of money, psycho parent and a weak AD results in a mess. Darien is the opposite. Congrats to them.

When was the last time Newtown finished at the top in the SWC and states in soccer?

Since 2012 Newtown hasn't made it past the first round of States and didn't even qualify one of those years. Hell they even lost to crappy McMahon this year.

Pretty desperate for attention if your coming on a soccer site to brag about winning state championships in all other sports but SOCCER!
