That's the issue with owning that much property - you have to fill it to pay the bills. OWs field space is tight but they don't need the volume. Most other clubs rent so if they'rr missing a team here or there the just don't rent or hire a coach.

Strange coincidence on this subject. A friend recently showed me an "open letter" an OW player sent to friends / family asking for financial help due to the high expense of "premier soccer." Guess mom and dad just don't want to spend the coin to participate (both are employed.) How shameful to put your 12 year old daughter up to something like that. Cant make it up...

Rip off
It is crazy. Our u11 town travel team now has 9 girls that also play premier. It has gotten to the point where every girl who tries out "makes" the team. There are tons of girls in u11 that aren't good enough to start on a town travel team but make all 3 big premier teams they tried out for. Premier has become the new town travel at the lower ages. If your parents have 2k you are on the team.
There is really no reason for it. If all the normal solid players stayed in town travel than town travel would be solid soccer all the way through high school. The perception that everyone needs to leave and pay 2k for training is crazy. Just stay in town and hire solid coaches. Premier should be for a few elite players here and there. It has become the norm which is a joke. It is town travel remade at 10 times then price.
And the whole mentality of winning doesn't matter plays into the whole thing. Yes training is the key in any sport but kids who aren't worried about winning are missing half of what sports teach you. Kids need to learn to win and learn to lose. The whole winning doesn't matter thing just keeps thousands of kids on low level premier teams because one day they will develop if they keep paying the coach. No other sport in the world do coaches who charge thousands preach winning isn't important. Most kids careers are over before high school and 98 percent of kids careers are over at the end of high school.
