There is movement of players between both clubs.

Many BS players come from lower FC, even NY. Try doing Darien to Portland at rush hour. There are the occasional player switches between the two, but it's very uncommon.

Even by pricey Fairfield county standards, BS is almost always the most expensive. OW does a nice job with fundraising and finding sponsors to help keep prices lower for all, not just DA.

Correct. Oakwood and Beachside have swapped players throughout the years, every year.

Some people are willing to drive far to get their kids to what they feel is the right club. Oakwood has kids from Albany on their current teams. There's more than 1, so the carpool makes it manageable.

Why can't BS do fundraising and find sponsors in the very wealthy and commercial Fairfield county? How does OW pull that off?

BS does fundraising that supposedly goes to scholarships (really?). It doesn't go to lowering costs.

Beyond the costs and location, OW and BS differ markedly in philosophy and style of play.
