    Maybe

Might be true...also could be be true that club worried it couldn't survive with coach...just saying you won't ever know why.

We probably will will find out why. Most people close to the situation probably already know. Most likely reason is you had a weak DOC not able to do the job at a small club that does not attract a lot of talent. AFC was a very average club when they had the support of Cheshire SC. Now they are a struggling club fighting to survive in a competitive market. Likely candidate to be gone in next year or two. Interesting note is that when CCSL first popped up they were a founding club. Soon after they flip flopped and became a CJSA club. Lack of leadership? Internal struggle? Maybe we will never know....

Or they saw they couldn't compete. There are mostly top clubs in CCSL in the younger groups, older teams more of a mix but generally still better than CJSA.

          Huh??!!??!!

Mostly top teams???? What AFC teams are top teams in any league? AFC as a club is very poor. Same level as FSC. You might find 1 maybe 2 teams in club that are good rest are terrible.

Good is a relative term. Their better teams are Travel + level at best. My question is, if they aren't drawing in the Cheshire kids, where are those kids playing? I hope its not town based premier? Cheshire is a pretty solid sports town across the board, assuming they have kids at the better clubs?

Cheshire is just like any other large town. Share of kids playing travel, low level premier, a few boys in the DAP and a few ECNL and NPL girls. not everyone is drinking the kool aid.

That was my point in the response to AFC being founding member of CCSL then pulling out - they saw they couldn't compete with many of the better clubs that joined CCSL.

Got it. I misunderstood. I thought you were saying AFC teams were the top teams in the CCSL.

Club has to be on life support without the Cheshire connection. There are like 9 clubs within 30 minutes. Wolves, Sound, Oakwood, FSA, Sporting, Ginga, SCP, FSC, Rush, Shoreline, Yankee. Talk about an overly saturated market.

we are with club, it's very hush-hush to this day. the DOC was scrubbed from the website almost immediately as if he were never even a major part of the program for over a decade, and we've never gotten any sort of official explanation.

there's a lot of competion in a small area - you're also forgetting the town-based premier programs in Cheshire and Prospect. One thing not mentioned in all this afc chatter is that the owner is getting near retirement age, so when he pulls the plug I'd guess the entire club goes with him.

Not sure there's really much to pull the plug on? Looks like a few teams and a few partial rosters at older ages.

This was a pretty well organized decent little girls club not long ago. Major drop-off in numbers of teams and players. Everyone fighting for a piece of the pie that doesn't seem to be getting any larger. Its somewhat of a shame as this type of club is a much better alternative to state level teams at FSA or even CFC branch teams. Certainly not a place for top level talent but definitely has a place in the current soccer world.
