After a certain age, around u15-u16, its more important for the players to be seen and scouted than to win a meaningless trophy.

Then why would teams give their money to a tournament where they won't get anything out of it? Scouts aren't at every FYSA tournament. The games would all then be meaningless. Basically organized scrimmages to fatten a club's pocket. This cannot be true.

90% of tournaments are club fundraisers.....period. if you NEED to win any of those to get your plastic trophy... more power to ya.

BS - if you are a good team, often the only way to play another good team is in the semis or finals.

If you are scared to have your kid play the best, more power to ya.

When a tournament is made up of mostly teams from the host club and its "partner" your not getting any quality competition.

Not talking about trophies. Seeing who is the better team is what competition is all about.

Ever hear of a showcase?? More often than not, 1 game a day, no semis, no finals.

Most high end showcases have 3 games only.
The team with the highest points after the 3 games becomes the champion.
                          Second finalist etc.
                          Points are awarded accordingly.

This system is better than having 2 games on the final day when all kids are exhausted.
This is why the Disney Showcase is now antiquated with its 4 games.
                          It's just too much.

For Younger players trophies are part of their learning. USA Is trying to kill soccer. First no heading than no championship games. Unbelievable!
