    U15g -2010 Brand New Year

Anything going on during the HS season?

    #2
Postings about this age group have been SHOCKINGLY quiet since mid-Summer.

Any U15G freshman going to make an impact on their varsity high school team this Fall ?

My daughter and another fresh who are decent, but nowhere near a regional level players will be playing the majority of the minutes (and they aren't ones discussed on this board). The ranks are a little thin despite having kids that have played town and even some club for the past 5 years and 40 kids in the program.

Its all good though and a nice change from the club scene. We'll finish somewhere top 3rd of our conference, maybe get into tournament. The yardstick of who is an impact player is quite a bit different in our town than for the state, but from my older daughter, it'll be a great experience and my younger will get all sorts of recognition. Good luck to all the freshman players!

That is an interesting thing about high school. Physical skills (size, speed, and tenacity) count for alot. Players who might be good but not great for club can be impact players in their high school.

The really top level players will be good no matter what setting but some kids don't do well psychologically if their teammates aren't at their skill level.

As you say...its all good and nice change.

We do not have time to post we are all too busy working extra jobs to help pay for our children's soccer careers.

Any U15g teams going to the MPS tournament in November?

Nipmuc has two starting freshman, one who played all but a few minutes as a back and another who was a midfielder, was very solid and played a lot of minutes vs Gonk.

There are 4 other freshman on the team, all who saw field time, some more than others. Under the circumstances I think it makes the 3-1 loss in the 1st game of the season look like the future is pretty bright for Nipmuc.

Scorpions are planning to attend. Quite a lot of new faces this year on the team.

                      Predicted Rankings Girls U15

                      1. Stars ECNL - pulling even further away from the pack

                      2. Scorpions - lots of noise about new players. The main reason they solidify their place as second best team is that some of the other top teams are fading

                      3. Bolts - no real news about them on these boards but they benefit the same way the Scorpions do. Everyone else is taking a step back.

                      4. Stars West - won't be as strong as Western was. Could easily fade into oblivion if the subregional league doesn't work out for them.

                      5. Explosion - this could be very optimistic. If they can add a few players, they may be a top 5 team. Alternatively, they could disappear completely.

                      6. NEFC - disappointing season last year but they regroup and will be stronger

                      7. Aztecs - good defense makes them competitive against everyone but the top teams.

                      8. MPS - loses a couple of players, picks up one good one. Parents and players getting sick of SuperWhy. They are in the U15 fade. Look at the current U16 Renegades for the blue print.

                      9. Fuller - a handful of good players but not enough committment

                      10. Pioneers - a third premier team in the Springfield area can't be good for them but at least they will be better than whats left at Western.

Dishonorable Mention - Stars United - may be the worst team to have that name in five years

I basically agree but do have a few more items of note

                        1) Stars ECNL...Talent will still overcome bad coaching. Sorry but no fan of GC and he should bruise his knees every night that he has the STARS name to recruit with. But yes, there talent is by far the best of class in the area

                        2) Scorpions have added the WU twins and a number of other new players. FM also will have give the team a great sense of urgency and drive. They were even (as State cup showed) with WU last year, although I did feel a little better despite the fact WU won in PK's. The subtraction of the twins from one and adding to the other tips the scales rather badly and that is not the only improvement Scoprs have made. Until proven otherwise, Scorps by far best of the rest.

                        3) Bolts lost player(s) to the new Stars United team, solid group and with the departure of the top state teams to R1PL, Sub-regional and ECNL, they could pull from the pack but oif they do will not be far....any distance will be incremental.

                        4) Stars West should come back and stay in MAPLE. The lose of the twins and messy divorce from WU just adds to a team with enough negative vibes around it. On the bright side, we won't have to suffer through another Spring of "we wil beat the stars" and then the reasons it did not happen....

                        5) Stars United. They have a decent cast of players and will do OK once they start to gel as a team, hard to start from scratch at this age though. Look for LOTS of roster movement between teams (ECNL/R1PL and United) to help hold the fort. If they play their real roster only the are a mid D1 to a D1/D2 bubble....

                        6) Explosion, now one stand out player surrounded by a revolving door of other D1/D2 bubble players. If she stubs her toe they are toast, if she stays healthy she will be double and triple teamed to death...as usual, lots of new players...

                        7) NEFC. Having Coach T will help but in the end you need the players to play the game and they do not have the horses to pull into the top of the 3-7 pack.

                        8) Aztecs. Nice working hard team. Will make you earn your wins, not enough talent to get that many..

                        9) MPS. Never see enough competitive games per season to lift their game, way to many Super Y walk overs. Nice kids and nice parents is all that can really be said.

                        10) Fuller. Last I hear coach was gone and so was team...will they even field a team. If they do, the 4 players of quality went to Explosion, what is left would struggle in 3rd D

In the end it is Stars ECNL, Scorpions next but not as good or deep, huge drop off to 3-7 all of whom have major issues and holes and none close to breaking into the top two. The rest are simply the rest.

Pretty good assessment but I am amazed at how much people know about other teams. When you do you have to recruit?? It will be interesting to see if the one star on Stars West stays put or does the back and forth to the ECNL team. Stars United will become another GC breeding ground for unrest, distrust and backstabbing as they jockey to get onto the ECNL team for any small token of time.
