Coaches run ID camps during July. Coaches get paid to attend ID camps during July. Jeff Cup was convenient as originally scheduled. Jeff Cup in July takes money out of their pockets. Just wait, you’ll see.

80% of the coaches have ID camps scheduled on that weekend? Nope. Also - that's what they have assistant coaches for. More kids to see at the showcase. Have assistants do the ID camp.

Even if the NCAA opens up recruiting and the soccer governing bodies resume operations attendance at Jeff Cup is going to be dismal. Leagues will be trying to get in as many games as they can so they don't have to give refunds. ECNL and DA will try to do something in July showcase wise, USYS will attempt to do state cups and regionals and when that happens there goes the draw for college coaches to attend Jeff Cup.

Really though if by some miracle soccer starts back up in June we will most likely see friendlies and regional showcases. ECNL Northeast South, ECNL Northeast North, DA Northeast, DA Atlantic, etc.. etc.. Even all of this is a stretch but the 400 team, 125 college coaches in attendance events are not happening this year.

Some just do not get how it really works.

Tapes of the games will be key so coaches can watch/review.

There is not a coach in the world who is going to sit and watch a game on video. They will either show up or send an assistant. You'll be lucky if you get them to watch more than 3 minutes of a highlight video so you better front load the good stuff.

                Correct. This won't end well.

Once they cancel again in July - that will be it.

No, ten pages of complaining about this event isn't enough for him. It's one stupid event that cost him $75 of his total club fee. He can go to another club that doesn't go to Jeff Cup. But whining online is easier and more satisfying I guess.

Too soon to tell. I can say that my D's college team are having very real discussions that the fall season may be scrapped.

With Fauci predicting the 2nd wave to hit in the fall, I don’t see how colleges can have fall sports or other extra curricular like band, orchestra, choir, etc. Logically, it seems there will be a big hurdle just getting students back in on campus classes and not having to suddenly send them all home again with a virus resurgence.

But we really don't know. We don't even know ow for sure when this wave will really start to fall and what the steady case rate might be. Its barely mid April, still time to see how this pans out

As Bill Gates has stated, there is no returning to "normal" until there is a vaccine. Human trials just started for one candidate. We are likely still 12 months or longer from a true solution.

In the meantime, what's the plan? Keep the economy shut down for 12+ months? You will have depression, hyperinflation, civil unrest and revolution, in that order. Not an option. The reality is the models were wrong regarding the mortality rate, which did take into account social distancing and quarantines. As of right now, with the exception of of some very large urban areas, this virus is a non-issue. The only reason politicians and especially governors aren't talking about reopening the economy right now is that they know voters will be pissed if they just suffered financially and it wasn't necessary, so governors are stuck keeping up pretenses.

Open up the economy. Let people go back to their jobs. Start sports up again. Allow for herd immunity while working towards a vaccine and maintaining social distancing for vulnerable groups like senior citizens. That is literally the only solution to go forward. The sooner everyone realizes that and pushes for that, the better off we'll be.
