ugh...Then it's only a few weeks until school is done for the year. Is it worth re-opening for just a few weeks?

That said, that has nothing to do with fall sports. There is still time to see where this goes before making that kind of call. New cases in the tri-state area are leveling off, which is great news.

tough explanation- how a soccer field is more crowded than the average school class, never mind hallway in between classes
all these numbnuts on here saying no fall sports have no answer to this. how can you justify cramming a thousand kids into a school for 6+ hours a day but then say no sports b/c...you'll be on a soccer field with 10 of them for an hour extra?

if you think fall sports aren't happening, you think school isn't happening

High school soccer games won’t be an issue since no one goes to watch anyway

High school soccer in CT will be getting all their Oakwood players back this fall.

That will help teach OW players how to play attacking soccer as opposed to playing sideways and backwards

I'm sure your kid kicks the ball really far! You're probably that guy always screaming "send it"

NYC just announced no school for the rest of the school year, probably the other nearby districts will go that way as well. That will mean the school fields that many clubs rely on will probably also be off limits. In Lamont's announcement regarding CT schools closed until May 20th, he said closing for the rest of the year is still possible. No fields, no teams, no league play

If fall sports do end up being cancelled, hey, at least that would mean Glastonbury's streak of never once having been "co-champions" in their entire history on the girls side (despite playing in more than 10 finals, all of which they either won or lost) will be guaranteed to continue for another year! That's the positive way of looking at it. Last year that streak came perilously close to ending....thank goodness our striker buried the next chance she got.

2019's win on the anniversary of that 2012 final was such a storybook ending that I could really care less what ends up or doesn't end up happening this year as an encore. That said, if former Oakwood academy players would indeed be playing for the HS this fall (as it should be, thank goodness!), that gives us that much more reason to potentially look forward to this upcoming season if things do end up being clear by mid-August. If not, well at least that means we can hang on to last year's glorious memories for a little while longer.
