    True story.....

I had a player who was quite talented, but our high school didn't get a lot of attention, because we didn't win much. Weak feeder programs. Small school. Lots of crossover athletes from other sports but lacking real soccer skills and game understanding.

This player did fine academically and got into a solid school here in state. D1 level. She decided she wanted to try soccer and she walked onto the program there and made the team. Ended up playing in about half their games in her freshman year and at the end of the season, was offered a partial scholarship for the next year. She was thrilled and told me all about it......

Fast forward to right after Christmas break. She calls me one evening and tells me that even though it was the "off-season", she was expected to make weight room sessions, three times per week....at 6 AM. I asked her how committed she really was to playing soccer and if she felt this was asking too much of her, she should go to the coach and discuss that.

She never played there again, deciding it asked too much of her. Graduated though, with honors. Good thing she chose her school for academic fit first, eh?

Academic fit should ALWAYS be the first priority. Many players aren't even in the game by junior year, either by choice, injury or the coach's choice. In the end the education matters more than soccer.

Wow, common sense on TS? So why still are you nutters still looking at commit list accuracy? Most kids aren't playing by the time they are seniors. CT is a tiny state. Even our "best in state" end up mediocre at best. Do your kid a favor and get over your desire to brag about your kids D1 status (most people are not impressed) and find her a good school.

Hey “nutter,” reading comprehension must not have been high on whatever poor dental hygiene island you came from!

This whole thread is not about parental “bragging” about D1 status. Read the very first post! It’s about holding clubs accountable regarding their bragging/marketing about what schools they help their clients get into. Turns out the clubs (you know that place that pays your salary) are not entirely honest. And that lack of honesty is important for parents to understand before they drop a few grand to help fund your warm beer and nacho habit.

The list does not track playing time in first year, or any year thereafter. It tracks only whether or not the player appears on the roster their first year.

If you don’t like the thread, don’t open it. But the rest of us like to know how often YU is still lieing to us.

Is YU still even around? You literally hear nothing about them anymore. Are they crumbling?

I guess that depends on your definition of crumbling. They don't have any u11, u12 or u14 teams this year. Last year all the teams did poorly except for their one uber team. Another thread showed their "placement" list last year was highly inaccurate. Maybe wobbly is a better term

Three fewer teams than before, only one decent team left. They'll continue to muddle about until WM retires, but they haven't been a force in CT soccer for a long time

Actually this was my first time. The U13 team is doing horribly and the U14 team last year (U15 this spring) tanked in the spring and a few players jumped ship. So other than their U16/17 now they are "wobbly" to say the least.

It was THIS THREAD that exposed YU’s inaccuracies. Go back to the first posts.

Why do you care? Why are you obsessed about other clubs? Figure out your kid and realize she probably won’t be playing soccer in 4 years.
