    All things MLS

Let's kick off this discussion with a Forbes article on the value of MLS franchise. No, they are more valuable than a bag of chips

Interestingly enough, NYCFC is third most valuable in only their second year. However they are not profitable due to their lease and star players

Red Bulls are 11th most profitable

Despite all the positives, I'm not sure how they justify charging $200m for a new franchise (up from $40M a few years ago!). Many of the better markets are taken at this point. If they start adding smaller markets that won't get nearly the crowds, it's hard to see the numbers working with that kind of pay-in. Plenty of clubs still in the red, even some have been around for awhile now.

      Several reasons

      1. Average worth of the MLS franchise is purportedly $185 million
      2. Lots of potential suitors equals demand
      3. The way the MLS is set up, every new franchise dilutes the total profits so the money needs to be made upfront

Also it shouldn't be that hard to get 20,000 into stadiums in cities like

Sacramento, St Louis, San Antonio, Detroit, San Diego, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Indianapolis

The first four are the front runners.

Any one catch the Twitter war between Ale Bedoya and Eric Wynalda? It got real fast.

Red Bulls 2 win USL Cup.

                            NYCFC qualify for playoffs

Big day in NY soccer history.

NYCFC to face Toronto FC on Sunday. Should be an awesome series. Lots of star power on display from both sides.

Toronto looked great last night against Philly. Giovinco is a stud. He will be in range from anywhere at Yankee Stadium
