      No Cal pays...???

Portland Oregon Thorns GDA is funded and you pay a deposit.

Will need quite a few fields for the hopeful masses that turn out at tryouts. To get their chance of a golden ticket, from mr. wonka MP

Send in your resume they are going to need quite a few evaporators .

All the non-GDA players in OYSA will pay for the GDA to be free. Timbers/Thorns certainly aren't footing the bill when they don't even pay the professional Thorns team much. There is no money in girls soccer. Except from eagerly willing to pay parents.

As long as all of Oregon & SW Washington's, 501c3 soccer clubs 'league, state/president'& founders cup team registration fee goes directly to peregrine and not the OYSA. + all ODP RTC fees continue to go to peregrine and not to the OYSA, funding for the Timbers/Thorns GDA Academies does not come out of his pocket, daddies money is safe and he stays rich. With this creative off the books funding source.

You fail to realize or understand (he) peregrine has spent millions over last 5 years on the boys USDA academy with no ROI yet and he has a better chance investing in scratch off tickets for a ROI and better odds than any ROI from an Portland based GDA for boys and Girls.

His dad taught him about the powerful funding tool called federal taxes (as the 74th Secretary of the Treasury for the US.) As such the entire OYSA membership (players & Clubs) have funded these US Soccer Directives for youth Academics, without any chance of it being a losing proposition to his Peregrine bottom line.

Not having to pay out of his pocket keeps him rich, thanks to the 70K OYSA membership league fes & ODP/RTC direct deposits to Pergerine for OYSA services.

If the OYSA takes back this golden goose what you say indeed has merit, no pun intended.

They took a look at the Oregon ECNL teams and realized how bad the talent is and knew that the anyway to have good players was to go to NorCal.

Proving the ECNL parents aren't rich, nor smart.

Funny how they can already announce their coaching staff, etc for California Thorns but the Portland Thorns can't even tell you if they will really even have an Academy.

Portland Thorns Academy is now $30K per year to help pay for the California Thorns Academy.

Say what you want about the talent level of Oregon ECNL but it's still 100x higher than Thorns Academy. Just the facts.

No comment other than to say that is telling.

It will most likely come in the form of an announcement with tryout dates.. as was done for CA.

It won't matter. Best coach in the world won't be able to anything with the talent level the Thorns are capable of attracting.

The reason that the GDA wont take off is that there is no money to fund it. If you pencil out the numbers you are looking at huge amounts of money. The Thorns can barely afford to pay their pro players $8,000 per year. They are not spending $12,000 per year on each girl on two or three teams. No way.

There is an article in the Oregonian about Thorns pro players having to take night jobs to survive financially.

There just isn't money in women's pro soccer.

The new TV deal is a desperate final attempt to get them on TV. They gave the network an ownership stake in the league in exchange for air time.

The owner of the Timbers is a millionaire. He will step up to the plate big time and pay all the Thorns Academy costs. When you are a millionaire that is pocket money.
