    Embarrassing.
Back off! Parents don't get a say. Nobody asked parents or the girls. Thorns corporate make all the calls. A win is still a win for the kids.

And do you understand that just because a few of your players happen to be 02's, the fact that the REST of your team are 01's means YOU WERE PLAYING DOWN. Again. And this time you flew all the way to Los Angeles to play down. Thank you, thorns academy, for once again reminding us all how lucky we are to not be a part of your train wreck.
Interesting that the only ECNL team (CO Storm) is dominating the top bracket.

Wins are wins. The parents & players demanded wins this year. Winning is fun!

I don't have a dog in this fight. It does not look like tough competition. However, they were not playing down. I believe it's a combo of 01's and 02's. Playing U16 is playing on age as 01's are U16.

A common rhetorical trick heard frequently in this forum is to accuse a team of "playing down" whenever they a) play on age, and b) encounter a younger team who is playing up.

Playing up or down refers to the set rules of the league or tournament bracket, not to the age of a specific opponent. If two teams that are playing up happen to face each other, both teams are still "playing up"; they don't magically start "playing on age" just because their opponent in one match is the same age group. In the tournament, they are still playing up.

(That said--it's not unusual to find tournaments where a given age bracket is filled with premier teams one year younger, all playing up...)

Correct. They are not playing down. They are in the lower u16 bracket. Along with some younger teams playing up. What a great use of your time and money. They could get better matches scheduling friendlies against Eugene's 99's and salmon creek's 00's. But they might lose those matches and that would cause those delusional thorns parents to have a tizzy.

Sorry the truth makes you so touchy. Cheer up. You got to post pix on social media from sunny LA and your followers don't realize how weak the competition was. Better than being stuck in icy Oregon.

You would be angry too if you were spending $10K a year!

The Thorns are playing on age but playing in the lower division on age. Shouldn't Oregon's best play in the top division of such a weak tournament? Agree it's still better than staying in icy Oregon though and easy wins are still fun. Plus, it's nice to get to fly to LA & play for free.

Oregon's "best" would play UP a year in such an easy tourney. Clearly, Thorns Academy are FAR from being Oregon's "best".

Whatever you say, Timbers lemming. Keep trying to rationalize barely beating a younger team in an extremely weak tournament.

I don't even know anyone so you should follow the adage, "Never assume..."
