Why Are Division 1 Teams in the Division 2 Regionals?

There are several Division 1 teams playing in the Division 2 President's Cup. Why?

    #2
There are no divisions in President's Cup.

Because the term "Division 1" does not adequately reflect the talent level of the teams. In some age groups, there are as many as 80 teams who are called Division 1 in some league. Let's not pretend DA teams are level with FSPL teams are level with USA teams.

Making the observation you've made reflects more on Florida's dysfunctional league system that provides no proper competition for teams to understand where they're at.

Florida State Cup at 500+ teams is a reflection of too many garbage teams being able to play in league divisions that falsely amplify their abilities.

Agreed! Are there really 50 plus teams in any age group that have a chance to win the championship? Groups should be limited to 16 teams or less. FYSA should limit the leagues from which teams can enter.

Some teams realize that they have zero chance to win it. So they play D2 hoping they have at least a shot at winning the lower level.

Whether you like or dislike the rankings isn't important. But in every age group and gender, there are top 10-20 ranked teams that opt not to play state cup, but President's cup.
I think it should be more like March Madness, where teams are invited to play State or Presidents and like it or leave it but they don't get a choice.

Read FYSA's site it explains the set up of the 3 cups

State Cup for 'elite' teams or people who think their teams are elite
                Presidents Cup D1 teams
Commissioners D2 or D3 level teams plus D1 teams who lost over 75% of their season games

USYS calls State Cup an Open competition and would likely overturn a state denying teams from entering it. Other states do it without appeal, but FYSA would be in hot water if it came out and said SFU D1 teams were ineligible to play in State Cup. Picked SFU as they have a lawyer on board, not because their teams aren't competitive. They can do a better job of educating teams on where they should play based on what league they play in, but remember FYSA reports to clubs with interests in the success of certain leagues. If FYSA were to say USA D1 teams should go into Presidents Cup, USA is mad. Clubs who are stuck in USA are mad because FYSA has placed a stamp of approval on CDL and their clubs, thereby further distancing the perception between CDL and USA clubs and potentially affecting tryout season. Moral of the story people don't like when governing bodies screw with their businesses. See FSPL Division 2

This is why Presidents Cup was brought into the State Office. A more professionally run program gives these fringe teams a viable option outside the toilet bowl round 1 in State Cup. Teams can get a great experience if they get past the Florida stigma of Region Cup

I like how 2003 TBU girls have two teams entered in Commissioners Cup AND one of those teams has ECNL players rostered for a supposed D2/D3 tournament. Don't believe it? Look at names on the teams and then names on ECNL rosters. You'll see some names on both teams. TROPHY HUNTING MUCH?????

You sure have a lot of free time to randomly compare an ECNL roster against a lower level team's roster. OBSESSED MUCH?????

not really. Just a parent at TBU who will be leaving the club this year. Tired of this crap. Been hearing for years from others how ill run the club is and run by the good ol' boys network. Not sure where is better but tbu does not care about childrens development. They only care about making money and winning even it means entering easy tournaments for easy win or pulling ecnl kids to lower level teams.

You are so full of crap. I just looked at gotsoccer team pages for TBU AB's ECNL, RS's Elite , and JB's Select team.
There is no girl from AB's ECNL team on RS's Elite team (Elite is the 3rd team in TBU's hierarchy) or JB's Select team (Select the 4rd team in TBU's hierarchy).

Compare the ECNL roster by clicking on TBU page at this link

                            http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague....ast-standings/

Not sure if the dual rostered girls are still on the ECNL team or not. Getting them PT on the lower team is a way to make up for the club choosing WAY WAY WAY too many girls for the ECNL team (25 per the ECNL page).

Hopefully TBU learned its lesson from this debacle and will do what is right for all the girls in the upcoming tryouts - pick no more than 18 for any team, and if (and when) there are injuries or sicknesses, pull up from below, and not the other way around.

D1 teams were allowed in Commissioner's Cup if they lost 75% of the season AT THE TIME OF APPLYING.

Once they were accepted into Commissioner's Cup, they were then free to alter the roster. Several bigger clubs did exactly that. If you look at the league record right now of several of the D1 teams still standing, they are no longer at 75%. Once the bigger clubs realized they had a chance to trophy hunt the Commissioner's Cup, they did exactly that.
