Everybody !!!! Weston plans on rostering 24 girls on the GDA for each age level and then having 18 girls in each of their b c d e teams , unless us soccer is changing the rules , only 11 play at a time and 3 subs permitted during the game period. Lots of bench warmers.

Good luck To all the girls

I doubt this is true, why would you take your girl to sit on the bench when you can start at one of the other clubs... is the Weston kool aide that strong?

        What a disaster.
Except for those at Weston counting the dollars coming in.

          High School

          I'm confused.
So can my daughter play High School or not?
I heard she can but can't do anything with the DA during her High School season?
So what if the 10 best players leave the team during High School season?

How many times does this need to be stated? Clubs can waiver kids at their discretion. Many will not give any and those that do will severely restrict them. DA is a ten month season and games must be played no matter if you're missing players or not. Clubs don't want to be missing multiple players for 3-4 months of that 10 months. When waivers are granted they will be limited to private school kids who have a sports requirement and/or super studs the club is desperate to keep. If a player gets a waiver they are not allowed to participate in DA while playing for their HS.

GDA - and BDA - can be worthwhile if you're a top starter. If you're player #11, maybe through #14 (if the club and coaches are really good) might be worth it. Definitely #14+ go elsewhere where you'll actually play.

Most parents who have been following the boys DA know this but when parents show up for GDA and are sold on DA even though they are not top 14....the team sells it as the best thing in the world , they sign in the dotted line and then when they realize they are warming the bench they can't do anything til may 2018. Hopefully they talk to other parents and aren't lied to by the DA team

You think Boca united or Weston will tell the parents , your girl probably won't get a lot of playing time , we will use them just to warm up our DA A team but we really want ur 2k and you may be a starter before you know it - it's a business !

They are going to get 24 girls to commit , it won't be an issue

                          Yes I agree.
They will get 24 "players" like they have for all of their underperforming teams.
The top players will go where there is a viable High School option.
Just remember that almost all of the top players in South Florida are playing on the best High School teams and this won't change. The myth that you will now have to give up High School in order to get committed to a top school will be proven wrong just like the ECNL or bust myth .

You will certainly see losses of 5,6,7 and 8 to zero at the South Florida GDA programs.
By now most players at Boca and Weston are used to those results.

"Top players are playing on the best High School teams?" Do you understand how school districts work? It is not college. Students are not free to choose their high school in south florida. You play where you live. That's it. Totally random. There are a few good players at St. Thomas and American Heritage, with maybe some 'tuition assistance', but those are the private school exception. Those 2 schools in particular, play in the smaller school districts, as opposed to Cypress Bay, Weston, and Boca. Even making a comparison of HS soccer to club soccer further emphasizes the level of your stupidity. Dumb azz.

If u are offered one of the 24-30 spots on GDA and you agree to sign on... after 2-3 months of just training , your girl decides to change her mind, I wonder if you can "downgrade" and just play on the NPL etc teams?
