The top kid on Bayview or EG or Burrillville or Portsmouth would absolutely be in the running for starting on most any D1 program if they alone were given the opportunity. Much like any top kid in the state would not by themselves turn one of these lower programs into a powerhouse like Lasalle. Some of these kids play on the same club teams as the top kids, with the only difference being that they are the only ones doing so on their high school team.
I agree that kids on the lower seeded teams will be looked down upon even though they really are just as good as top players on other teams.
Yes, they all play club together and there isn't really a standout when they are all playing club within their own age group.
The difference with HS soccer is now you have 3-4 age groups playing together and some people will stand out a bit more because of age, size, strength, ability, adapts better, etc. Better players? Possibly to most likely. Here are your few players that make the first or second team all state.
The rest of the "individual awards" should be gone. It's a team sport it's not tennis.
First and second team all state, yes.
Replace the all division awards with a Leading Scorer, Best GK, Best Defender?

Well, even that gets tricky. Golden boot by division is simple; Best GK or defender based on? Saves (and assists) are not uniformly counted. Your back to again subjective calls and reputation.

I like the idea of the all-state match/tryout, just not sure how it could be done the same as was mentioned in VT/NH. RI would get killed playing a MA/CT team.

Maybe a scrambled D1/D2/D3 match between two teams nominated by the coaches would help - just not sure the will or logistics to pull it off when there is no pull like those states have with their state vs state match format established.

The coaches should just step up and do it as best as possible.

What long break? Between regulation and OT. It's not that long!

Coaches have stepped up for years to do this. They have left it to the Projo to be more aligned with boys association. Thatís what I was told today

It is like calling a timeout in a game, which typically is done to break any momentum that an opposing team may have. Coaching 101. In this case that timeout often seems to work to slow both teams.

Donít know why you canít accept that a high proportion of RI overtime games end with no scoring. IT IS LIKELY CHANGING NEXT YEAR so save your arguments for then.

What a joke....the projo writers can't possibly see a good even sampling of all games...it will never be perfect and without bias, but at least let the coaches do the selections. They play each team in their respective divisions...what will projo go by, the useless inflated stats of lower divisions and sporadic scoring for d1? total omission of players with defensive skills? no representation for players on teams with poor records?

Fact: Journal will call LaSalle (first without a doubt) regarding who they would like on all-state. And will get their opinion on the rest of the players for all state. Then they will call a few other coaches and get their opinions if they haven't talked to some of these coaches already. They will NOT call ALL the coaches. So all-state will be picked by a few. You will have a few that definitely belong there. This should be interesting.
So, yes, it was much better when the coaches were nominating and voting. It wasn't perfect but at least all D1 and D2 coaches had a say and a vote. Once again, it will never be perfect but that's life.

Can we assume that All State selections will come from
the All Division list? Or do they select different players? Like ďIím not giving X player All Division honors, because they are likely to be All State?Ē ... or would they just be the same players, but fewer of them?

If they want to make it like the boys division, why not both the boys and girls coaches select all state awards for their respective league? projo should just publish the all state list that the coaches select, which is basically what they used to do anyway
