    Pretty funny.
Not really. Many of the players who WON the ECNL will be gone next year. All the comments assume that where a team is NOW is where they will be in the future are pretty stupid.
Slammers are a great Club, but whether they stay or go has little impact on what the GDA is trying to do. Cali, with its climate, competitive HS programs and quality coaching is possibly the hardest GDA sell of all.

Using what those Clubs do as a measuring stick fror NE teams is asinine

What is the NE measuring stick? Stars ? PDA? LISC? Empire?

The only thing that matters is what local club and help your kid. Maybe gda club. Maybe ecnl. Maybe neither. This battle of the leagues is tiresome.

When the clubs leaving are far better than those entering, there's an issue. That is even more so here where the region was already one of the weakest and they added two two clubs that have no business in GDA. When the #1club in CA, arguably the best DA market, is leaving, there's an issue with the league

            Absolutely correct.

Keep drinking the GDA koolaid, you lemmings.

Keep funneling money to JD’s bank account you suckers. Our daughters are in the vanguard of a new era in US soccer, while yours play HS kickball.

Absolutely irrelevant. How does this actually impact a kid in the NE? I assume then that adding B Teams to the ECNL has exactly the same impact ?

In my opinion, it has no impact on kids in the NE.

Nah, kickball is what BBA was playing in the 18-19 semis.

Exactly. Kickball is all they needed to get that far. That is the most telling thing of that league. Neither ECNL, Or DA. Will ever be what ECNL was. Top teams from top clubs. Years past all your games at Nat playoffs were dogfights, now you don't really get that till quarters, and DA is no different. Way too many laughers for the real top teams. So much wasted time and money, both leagues

League quality is declining overall and certainly locally. Yes training at your local club matters but so does the quality of competition. If your club isn't providing good training and the competition is wildly inconsistent they're getting short changed. The NE was already weak, now it's weaker. Fewer good players will want it and it will continue to slide. Traveling across country at great expense to play fewer quality teams isn't appealing either

It was not even appealing to play good teams. If there is any silver lining to any of this it will be that the market for inane cross country youth soccer games will dry up.

Whoever can go to a well run regionally based system could win the day. Imagine if we only had to do say NJ, MD and PA for showcases instead of NJ, FL and WA?

Agreed, but how would you "sell"it to parents like the ones who type here about developments in Cali, Texas and Michigan ?

National leagues are not at all justified basis the quality and cost, but parents love to brag. They pay money to brag. Read this comment

The NE is not weak, its just spread very thin. Where else are these good players going to go if they live in the region? Travelling across country is not appealing...period. dont care how good the competition is. You can create that here. The only reason people do it is because CLUBS and PARENTS want glamor and bragging rights.

Toss in all the leagues and clubs fighting over the same talent pool. Everyone's parents can claim their kid is elite and in the "top" whatever (eye rolls at the office coffee maker). Still, I think most parents would welcome the change as long as Mia gets recruited to a good school.
