Stars are pulling out of DA. It will give the girls chance to play other sports and activities. It will help prevent injury and give the girls a more rounded sporting experience, allowing them to be kids at this important phase in their development. Ironic that their development will be better than the “development” academy.

I am calling it first: stars just imploded. You can't spin this one.

Raises the question of how many current Stars DA players could be showing up on the doorstep of Stars ECNL teams as soon as this week? Will the doors be opened to them, or will they be turned back? ECNL teams can roster up to 30 players, so that’s not the issue. Only 18 can be active on gameday though, so that could cause friction if ECNL rosters get opened up to disgruntled DA players who now know the fate of DA at Stars is sealed. JD has got to be dancing around to beat the band right about now.

The whole DA/ECNL schism has been a fiasco and who suffers? The girls. The best teams should be playing each other. It appears the Stars are not fielding their best players on their DA teams. Who benefits from not having the best players in the state competing against each other? It really is a sad state of things. Very unfortunate.

Don’t worry, the best girls will now leave Stars quicker than you can say mercenary BS.

If it was solely up to the Stars, they would have put all their best players in DA, but it was not up to them. Left open to players to choose, and for the most part, the Stars ECNL teams ended up with better talent. Not to say the clubs’ talent wasn’t split, because it was. Oh well, nothing ventured on GDA, nothing gained — except maybe more club fees for Stars bank account.

You are right that the real loser here has been the girls b/c the competitive environment has suffered since the split.

Maybe there will be some downward pressure on prices for soccer with all the competition. Lower than fees, parents ts will go to gda,. Lower the exnl fees and they will go there

Rumor going around the players is that no players are being added to the 00,99 ECNL, roster is already over 20. The two NT players and a third are going back to ECNL.

Weird. My kid plays DA, does other activities, last month won a national championship in another sport, seems to get less injured in DA, is still a kid even though she practices 1 extra day a week compared to last year. Her soccer and sports IQ development is much better in DA as they train nutrition, etc. Oh well.
