    Little DA for Girls

So Washington Timbers have released a concept for a little DA like program for girls.
In the BSC/United message about the merger, they also alluded to a similar program in the works.
Both Crossfire and FC have had some form of pre-ECNL programs.

    Questions -
Is this a good thing? More precisely, how many of these programs can Oregon/SW Washington support?
In 8 years, what % of girls playing college soccer from the area will have come from these type of middle school programs v. spent middle school in more traditional club programs?
How much of these clubs' experiences with the boys little DA is driving this?

It isn’t actual DA because there is no DA league for them to play in. Looks like a money grab, trying to lure girls to Washington to train and get more $$ and perhaps temporarily pull the top players away from Peregrine.

If there are kids that want 4 days a week Training why not do it? It sounds like a great idea.

If the training is good and you live in Washington why not? Plus you can dump your money in the spring to send your coach, I mean kid, to Spain on a paid vacation!

My kid would love to go to Spain. I wish our club invested time and resources for these types of opportunities.

BSC just sent over their 04 DA Boys to Spain with old coach RB.
I wonder how much that club has invested in the 04 girls?? Oh yeah they charged them extra for “Pre-Ecnl” training. No big trips for the girls at United PDX.

Pre Ecnl or Ecnl from Oregon is scam like. 4th tier teams playing other 4th tier teams with a few 2nd or 3rd tier sprinkled in.

So then rec soccer must be 5th tier, GDA 6th tier, and OYSA Premier 7th tier.

Uhhh no. Just the fact that Ecnl teams from Oregon are terrible and they aren't even capable of being the best in Oregon which is historically a bottom tier state.

Of course it is. Call it pre-academy, pre-ecnl whatever. It's a marketing hook. Each league has it's own set age of when they start. Anything before that is to fool parents into think your kid is a shoe-in for the full deal if they get in at an earlier age. At some clubs that may be true - short sighted on their part but true none the less. Others will actually take teh best talent they can find inside and outside the club. But since DA doesn't start until U14 families have many opportunities out there to find their kids great coaching without being suckered into a pre-anything. Find your kid the best coaching, see where they take it into middle school (lots drop out, or can't cut it at the higher levels).

Find the best coach. Period end of story.

Too many garbage coaches in OYSA Ecnl DA everywhere

I have to admit though.....four days a week is pretty cool. I’m sure it’s worth the money.

Four days a week of lousy coaching isn't better than 3.

Four days is only mandated for true DA teams, not pre-academy or pre blah blah. Some DA clubs don't even adhere to the 4 day rule. You'll be paying for it also. DA clubs are supposed to work to reduce fees but in reality it isn't discounted much. The same guidance doesn't apply to non DA teams. Clubs need other teams to be highly profitable to cover the hits they take in reducing DA team fees. Those pre-blank teams fit into their financial plans nicely
