He plays out of state because he's right - in state is awful. It didn't used to be that way - not even that long ago even. But once the exodus started that was it.

Maybe they don't want to spend every day on the weekend driving 2-4 hours one way to watch a loser coach play a loser style of soccer. And don't forget the kiss a** parents; they are always enjoyable.

Dude has a point. Drove back from New Jersey today. I don't miss that ride. In state soccer for the average kid is a good balance.

There are plenty of in-state clubs to play for if that's what your player wants. Some players want more. The tricky part is figuring out if a player SHOULD be playing on a regional team and if that team is worth playing on. Good news is you can try something for a year and leave if it isn't working. One of my dropped back to state level because she hated having no life (a game out on LI at the wrong time can consume virtually and an entire day), the other kept going. Lots of options out there - not all good - but there are options

He's right? It may be " awful" for him, but the mere fact that the competition level exists, has children participating and families are saving a bundle of $$$ and time invested hints that it isn't so awful for others.

There's a level for every player.

yes, and it's the parents job to be brutally honest with themselves when looking at their kid on the field and making some determinations and taking action. Best thing we ever did was getting the kid out of a higher level back into travel
