    Seniors can play HS.
All will have been signed by then anyways.

Only this year. Only seniors on teams that made it to quarters last year. Those few that qualify can play HS this year but can't play GDA during that time.

Exactly. That's why I wrote for the other person to re-read the section.

All of the trash talk is an obvious attempt to ensure that players interested in going to GDA tryouts are scared off.

Let the kids make their own informed choices for GDA, ECNL-programs, and clubs.
If they're not capable of doing the research and contacting information resources, then they're not even prepared for life moving forward.

Plenty of kids and are leaving because of this and are tired of the GOLDEN carrot dangled in there face that is UP.

If you say that there are plenty of kids that are playing else where true but not from the HELP of the coaching staff. Those families and players received those scholarships on there own. I know multiple FC kids who have had to reach out to CU coaches for help in putting in a good word for there kid to a specific college or university because FCPDX coaches will not do it!

          WHAT A SHAME!
lipstick on a pig is still just a pig with lipstick. what do you expect them to do? they aren't going to call and tell them how great your kid is when she's really not all that. that just makes them look foolish. I know you think your DD is USC/UCLA worthy but you need to stop drinking your own kool-aid

              Exactly!

Not saying ECNL is the answer to everything, but the showcases are an opportunity for you to be seen by college coaches. It is up to you to invite them to watch you play and it is up to you to perform during the games.

There are lots of opportunities. It is pointless to blame your club coach for the lack of interest from college coaches. About 2% of HS Varsity players move on to play D1 soccer. It is not a given that everyone will play D1 soccer and it is not your club coach's fault if you are not good enough.

2% nationally, right? Then, California is higher than 2% and Oregon is less than 2%.

                  California population is 39M people

                  Oregon population is 4M people

California population is 10x that of Oregon. In theory they would have 10x the number of soccer player. I would say they may have more due to weather, more playing options, better competition, etc...

2% of a big number is larger than 2% of a small number.

Maybe Oregon has a lower percentage than California and maybe not. I would expect California to have a minimum of 10x the number of Oregon's.
