How many times does your daughter need to be seen by scouts to show that she is good? And are you sure those scouts will be at any of her games? I didn't see scouts lining the field for the CU vs FC match and I don't anticipate it at Thorns GDA matches either.
Hate to break it to everyone but no scouts are looking at your Freshman this year unless they have already been iD and playing for u15 National Team (Oregon girls need not apply). They won't be looking at ECNL games unless your a Sophmore or Junior and they won't be looking at GDA games until then either. You can get better exposure by picking your top college choices and visiting the schools, meeting the coaches face to face, going to that colleges summer ID camp, and following up with the coach.

I see you mastered mathematics at Gresham HS. Regardless of where the ECNL teams are "ranked" they are still light years ahead of GPS or any other non-ECNL teams. Just the facts.

Deep with pine riders. 2 or 3 max from GPS could actually make an ECNL team, and they all know it. That's why the rest of the parents are trying so hard to keep the real top players from leaving.

No recruiting necessary for ECNL clubs. Top athletes have always migrated to these clubs by U14 and always will. TA clubs have never figured out why, primarily because they can't handle the truth.

Scouts typically like 3-4 in-game evaluations. This why the big leagues have 3-4 showcases. Their plan isn't haphazard.

You are correct that accounts don't come to games in Oregon, but they flock to the showcases, which GPS can't get in to.

ECNL and now possibly GDA has consolidated the talent for recruiters. It is a simple fact. If you want to play in college you have to be in front of the recruiters. ID camps are great for exposilure, but scouts want to see a kid play in competitive games.

Driving to NorCal is fine as long as you give yourself a day to acclimate once you get there.

Thank goodness Mike Smith put that fear to rest last night by advising they are flying the teams to all games beyond Seattle and those game weekends would have double headers.

They do like seeing competitive games which is why most encourage sending video as well. Most scouts from D1 already know who they are going out to watch before the showcases. All the girls at the showcases begin to look the same. If you are buying into ECNL over the "showcase" exposure you are a fool.

And when was the last time Mike Smith spoke the truth?

The only fools are those drinking the GDA Kool-Aid. Nothing but a cluster, especially Thornz.

The fact Thorns are offering a subsidized Soccer program for Portland's elite players should be rejoiced. Girls are finally being afforded the same opportunity the boys have had for years. This is a big investment in Oregon's youth. Everyone with a daughter who plays soccer should be getting behind this program. In two years it will be the only program standing.

The level of false information being thrown around is staggering. If your daughter is good, she will be signed. Ecnl want you to believe that their showcases are the only path. Far from it. If you believe she is borderline, perhaps Ecnl is the route you should go. But make a choice in her best interest, not based on your insecurity.

Totally depends on how old the bus is and how many players are crammed in. If you can stretch out that helps. A/c is important in the hot weather.

Double headers? Doesn't DA preach only one game per weekend? Was there other info contrary to DA? Will they really practice 4x/wk? HS soccer? Other sports? Is it really going to be GDA or is it going to be just like Thorns Academy this year but playing in a travel league?
