Agreed. We have an '03 who sill be in 8th grade next year. Leaning towards DA for a year and try to move into ECNL for HS. It should be an interesting year.

Question - is that what your child wants? Or is it what you want?

This makes a lot of sense-she gets to train for the year with her team not some
Composite fall team bc 2/3rds of the 03 arenaying HS.

Actually, this was HER plan. We were not even aware she had given it that much thought. I was surprised but I don't think it's a bad option. She thought she could get training time in 8th grade when most of her current team will have moved on to HS. This all came about after an info session and she heard she could not play HS. She was originally on the DA bandwagon all the way. She wants to play HS soccer with all the girls she grew up with. It's important to her.

I assume they will let private school girls play HS soccer? For the rest they have to decide if the social aspect is more important than playing at the highest level. At last a club is getting serious about taking it to the next level.

Why would private school girls get to play?

My understanding is that Private, at least ISL, can't offer Athletic aid, so enrollment can not be contingent on playing. What makes private more deserving of waiver than public?

It does not have anything to do with deserving, it actually has to do with the public school sports being governed by the MIAA which will not allow them to miss games or training

It is tough with the MIAA, even though many lie where they are and sneak out of games and practices to attend ID camps and ODP and so on but if they get caught or someone snitches on them they can be suspended for a length of time or permanently from their public school team

With the private schools not governed by the MIAA it is just the coaches discretion

A lot of the national and regional pool kids seek out going to private schools so they can continue with both their HS team as well or they just do not play for their HS team at all and it is not by choice, ask any of these kids they want to play but they are not going to give up their spot on these select team that they worked so hard to get on.

                        Great answer!

It is sad that the MIAA thinks they "own" all the players on their public high school teams. They really are doing these players a major disservice.

Rhode Island does not have the same rules, thus making the publics in RI similar to privates ... up to the coaches discretion.

From what I am told in NY you play Club or Town from U-Little all the way up, it is one or the other and if you play town you play for your public school. If you play club you do not play for your HS team and you play year round regardless if you are a DAP kid or not. Also the town teams play in the club league so club and town teams actually play each other and compete in all the same tournaments. There is no playing both town and club or HS and Club.

Primarily yes. What we have been told is that Mendon is main location, with Marlboro as secondary and indoor location.
