4.5M people live in Riverside/San Bernardino Counties - only 1 DA Club and 1 ECNL Club

Maybe you all dont have enough people to support 3 elite teams. Isnt Portland and the surrounding areas about 2 million?

Also the clubs that have both GDA and ECNL, the kids will have a choice where they play. My guess is the younger ones will do GDA and the older kids ECNL. GDA will be the B team in the older age groups for a majority of the dual clubs.

Parents with younger kids will drink any new Kool-Aid being offered. The truth is, Portland needs one top of the pyramid club and leave the rest of the clubs alone. Those that perform and produce will prosper, others will die off. Just the way it is.
The Thorns have a B team. They just don't call it a B team.

There are only 9 clubs with both GDA and ECNL. The top players at these clubs will go to GDA and ECNL will be the reserve team.

The problem with Portland Thorns Academy is that it is not really a club. They had two teams and now they have three.

It does help matters that we have only 1 DA program for Boys & Girls in Oregon/SW Washington it makes consolidation possible. Plus it's paid for making the local clubs look foolish for charging 10K a year for an inferior product.

NWSL Portland Thorns are a Pro Club with a US Soccer Development Academy program for girls.

About 3mm feeding into this pool and yes three elite teams is definitely one too many.

Why would the other clubs look foolish for charging the players what it costs to travel?

That is great that the Thorns are paying for the players travel, but I don't think badly about the other clubs because they are not forking out the bill. Travel soccer is a luxury item and not really a necessity.

It helps that there is only 1 DA program. That means players are coming over because Thorns are the only DA option and only cost $2K... not necessarily because the product is inferior. It means they want to try out DA and there are no other options or they want to play travel soccer and it nice to have Thorns pay for it.

most of those clubs are putting B team in GDA. Not a lot of girls want to give us the high school experience.

Youbare actually wrong 99% of the clubs with GDA are playing top players in GDA. Thecplayers of course have a choice and some kids that want to play high school soccer will choose ECNL, but top "A" licensed coaches are all being moved to GDA.

The fact GDA has banned kids from high school sports is a huge draw back. But if kids want to give that up, more power to them. I'd counsel my kids to think hard about that. You are only young once.

                      Miss high school events.
They should set up a boarding school for the kids and cut off all communication with family. Take away cell phones. Force them to achieve skill goals before they get phone privileges.
