    Problem with soccer in Florida

The biggest problem I see if that there are too many competing clubs all vying for a limited amount of players. Every year a new club pops up and parents jump ship from one club to another. Club hopping isn’t good for the kids and their development. It doesn’t help the clubs grow and develop coaches and talent.

I don't see it as a limited number of players. These clubs should be able to develop lots of talented players, however club hopping doesn't always help with development but sometimes it does if to a better team and coach.

Change it to limited number of quality coaches, and you have the problem.

As kids get older and are developed I see the benefit of jumping to the club with the highest talent of players and coaches. At the younger ages ( u-8 to u-13 ) I see parents jump ship every year to another club. Doesn’t make sense at that age.

Trying to find the next best thing. Soccer needs to be restructured where kids stay local and no travel teams until they are much older.

Simple fix, but too much money and ego involved

            Simple fix by each state:
            - Highest level of pro soccer (MLS/ USL) teams split regionally (with-in state or neighboring state) to recruit from Regional clubs. Development Academies. Work with Regional Clubs to identify talent.

            - Regionally, best 4-8 Clubs (USSF and US Club) has best coaches and players in region. DA Clubs. Work with County clubs to identify talent.

            - County clubs focus on player/coaching development and partner with regionally assigned Clubs to send players as they develop. Regional Clubs work closely with County clubs.

            - County Rec focus on introducing kids to soccer and having a platform for non/pre competitive players and coaches. County/Regional clubs work closely with County rec groups.

No need to change state/national tournament or DA structure.

Seems to be the same up north where I am too. Too many clubs, not enough impact players. Most teams that can field a good 11 usually have a drop off after that and have difficulty in regional or national events.

DOC at my kid's current club stated in the last team meeting that the problem with youth soccer is that parents and players should stop comparing clubs. They should just be happy with the service and training provided at his club, regardless if the competition was doing it better. There were no issues with his club. It was the parents and players (his customers) that were the problem.

You could argue too many clubs competing for quality coaches. Every club has 1 or 2 really good teams and the coaches associated with them have been winning for a long time. While that does not always go hand in hand with development, it certainly makes for a good debate if you got all the best coaches in a area at one club.
