There are two professional Lacrosse leagues and some (small) level of international play. There is merit in the argument that college lacrosse gets the most attention but it does go beyond the college level.

Posting that we want it to happen isn't real helpful Does anyone have insight as to what keeps them from changing to grad year? Insurance? Hope for NT placement? other?

The whole calendar year thing was a set up by USSF to rattle ECNL by breaking up teams before the introduction of DA. It also put them on equal footing with ECNL as they know school year is much more desirable. They failed to provide that knockout punch, now ECNL feels empowered to push back.

Exactly. Problem with graduation year though is this is youth sports and some kids could stay back or parents could hold them back, therefore there could be a 16 year old playing U14. Not fair. So they need an age range like before - say August 1 2001 - July 31 2002 was a team.

Yep this would be best for the kids and the coaches. I’ve been reading other states boards and there is rumors that ECNL is going to do something like this at their annual meeting - go back to school year age groups. Has anyone else heard this or is it just idle banter, and wishful thinking.

I heard the big announcement is the creation of Gender X teams.

Who cares? Don't even know why they separate youth soccer teams by gender at all. Look at the abilities of the players and place them accordingly. Gender has nothing to do with it until after puberty

Realistically, very few people do this. In addition, it is “fair” because everyone can hold their kid back if they want. Most of all, club soccer is fueled by college recruitment! Colleges recruit by grad year. Colleges don’t care is a graduating senior is 17 or 19. More than anything, grad year is simply the best option (no option is totally fair) because it aligns with school, college, social groups and gives a full seemless team to every grade, every year. Simple!
