    CFC Sound

My Daughter is in 8th grade and has never played competitive soccer. We live in Hamden and she wants to play next year in high School, is CFC Sound the best place to have her play this spring to get ready?

She should think about playing something else in High School. Hamden High has a lot of premier kids that have been playing the game for a long time. Although she would probably fit right in at Sound and if she has any athletic ability at all she’ll be the best kid on the team there, keep in mind the only thing she’ll learn is how to lose. The place is full of brats who think they’re hot stuff because they wear a CFC uni and parents who think their kids are going to play for the USWNT

Ignore that guy. Sound is fine. But also look into South Central and Ginga. Contact some clubs now and ask to attend a practice soon. Watch to see if she can keep up, how the coach interacts with the kids. Try and ask parents questions of you meet any. If she is offered a spot on a team that seems a good fit (and it fits your budget and time constraints) let her try it for the spring. She would be placed in JV next year or a freshman team if there is one. She shouldn't be discouraged by that but should know what she is up against.

You have placed her on jv already? Never seen her play, but know that at Hamden, a hs that is piss poor as defined as state tournament performance, you think she would be jv.

        Good job coach

Visit 2 or 3 clubs that are around you that are easy to get to for practices and have your kid work out with them 2 or 3 times each (all you have to do is email each coach). Find the best fit and let it go from there. She is now to premier soccer, so you probably can't be too choosy yet, but if she has a great year, you will learn a lot about the landscape and might be able to find a better fit for her in HS, but you should act quickly and try to find out how much each of these coaches is respected ..... just because it says premier does not mean either the team, club, nor coach is worth anything.

Aren't you doing the same thing - making assumptions about a player YOU know nothing about? Good job dbag

Sound would probably be a perfect place logistically.
Also, they have good coaches and some decent teams.
Dont go by all the mumbo jumbo garbage on this site.
They have their own indoor facility for the winter and train at Choate in Wallingford for Fall and Spring.
No other club near you has that.
              Good luck

Yes, Choate has beautiful facilities and it's a wonderful place to have your kid train however at what expense? See, Sound gets to use Choate because "someone" is the coach there and gets the fields for Sound, possibly for free? In return Sound keeps "someone" on as a coach, even though he runs his practices under the influence, that is of course on the odd chance he actually shows up.

Actually try reading and engaging your brain. Did I suggest she would play on any level hs team? No. I just don’t like a dik like you saying she will probably play jv or freshman team and you have never seen her play. Only fact I stat3d is Hamden hs suks, which is factual. Go to ciac site. This year they lost in first rd by a score of 5-1 to s Windsor, a team that got smoked 4-0 by ridgefield. Year before that, lost in first rd again, losing 3-0 to Shelton who lost the next rd to Darien. Year before that, they lost in the first rd again to 2-0 to enfield who turned around and lost to Wilton. You get my drift? Three years, three years eliminated in first rd to a team that lost in the next rd. Scoring 1 goal and allowing 10.

Whatever club you say all these great Hamden high girls play for probably isn’t one the guy wants to consider for his kid.

If the op s kid doesn't have that coach who cares?

Op: Call clubs. Go to practices. Pick your poison.

That's a lot of Hamden hate.

How could Hamden be so bad with all those clubs kids?

Do they have a lot? I don't know anything about them. Not every school does.

Ginga also have an indoor facility and would also welcome her to practices. Very welcoming club.

Any additional training before high school is a plus.

                              Good luck!
