Nobody remembers or cares who wins the supporters shield. All the players want to win the championship MLS Cup. Nobody puts a star on their jerseys for winning the shield.

Golden State would trade every regular season win for Cleveland's championship.... even though Golden State proved to be the best in the regular season over 82 games. It's common sense for most people to understand.

Simply not true. The Shield says that you were the best team over a 34 game schedule playing every other team. The Cup is a stupid league tourney placed at the end of the season when everybody just wants to be done with soccer. NOBODY cares about the League cup (as evidenced yesterday by the Timbers lackluster display).

Pretty sure this is a troll from FC or THUSC, who hates hates hates the Timbers and Thorns, from top to bottom, because his DD's favorite club isn't being allowed to monopolize all the top girls talent without some competition. Or blames them for the collapse of OPL. Or is annoyed that Merritt Paulsen might pocket a dime of profit from administration of OYSA. Or some other grudge that's unrelated to the business of adult professional soccer.

Or he could be one of those MLS-bashers who thinks that FC Dallas would get blasted out of the German third division--but generally those sorts don't care which teams make the MLS playoffs or not, and don't have issues particular to the Timbers.
