College Coaches

The only way to objectively judge any program is to see how much college exposure they are getting. ODP no longer gets any college coaches at their events (only local coaches who happen to be in the area). ODP is dying a slow death and desperately trying to stay relevant, but they no longer attract the top talent and college coaches know that. Don't waste your time and money. ODP is no longer relevant and hasn't been for at least 5-7 years.

Depends what the kid wants out of the experience. College coaches teaching, playing with other elite talent, international tournaments, something they can’t get from their club team or ECNL, ... Some elite players in DA or ECNL don’t do ODP but there is still talent. College Coaches could attend the summer region ODP camps and have a solid recruiting list in many age groups to work off. The college coaches working with the ODP camps have an edge on recruiting players. ODP is an enrichment summer camp and does offer some college coach exposure.

Lower D1- D3 colleges who have a tough time finding their players need go watch region camp and use the state and region rosters.

University of Florida sends their Head and Assistant coaches to regional camp (as recent as month ago) and they are harvesting girls out of there.

Waste of time and money. If your kid can play put him on a DA team or ECNL team. In that order.

Sure, there are some good players. Some girls that can make gda or Ecnl rosters but don’t currently play on a team for a myriad of reasons ( cost, convenience, geography)...but they are not the top players.

UF should be recruiting the top 10 players in the state. They are not.

UF should be recruiting the top 10 players in the state. They are not.

Aren't you reaching a little bit to make your argument - predicting the demise of a perennial powerhouse program in the SEC just because they scout an event that your kid is not part of? Many of the girls at Region camp and almost all that make the Region teams are ECNL players.

Look at any college womens soccer roster and see most carrying about 30, even the small college D2 programs.

Exodus out of state by the top talent. Sure UF gets some quality players, but they are not getting the top in the state, which is surprising cause they have so much to offer. I don’t know...maybe they focus on out of state players more.

Also...I understand that Top Drawer soccer and IMG player rankings are not the end all be all of talent evaluation, but it does so a good job of consolidation and listing recruit information and commitments. I wouldn’t split hairs over who is #1 or #10 as that can be more subjective.
