Is GA the new National League?

    https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/assets...2020.pdf?35749

So basically GA will be just another conference in USYS...well, at least MLS has their back (wink, wink).

they should have combined for real. GA is now a separate league, administered by USYS. They could have combined the leagues and made one strong one.

The more leagues, the more teams can be at the top of the league, the more money they can charge. The key to
making money in this business is having as many top players, teams and leagues as possible.

Yeah, the optics aren't very good. They should've worked with USYS from the beginning and launched a development club league under the USYS umbrella, for the remaining GDA clubs that weren't welcomed into ECNL. Could've kept the illusion of exclusivity and added top performers from the existing Club V Club division.

Instead, they rolled out a half baked league whose name was changed less than 2 weeks after launch, under a governing body that couldn't possibly handle a league of this nature...not to mention in the middle of a pandemic, that literally handed out spots to anybody that wanted one (the Ukies??? Come on now) that is drowning in year 1 and needs the USYS lifejacket. Definitely have some highlights-great marketing, impressive commissioner, etc. If they can pull off some solid college placements, they'll be fine...if not, they'll just be another USYS division.

The only decent placements they'll get were in process well before GDA fell apart. After this year it all collapses. The level of competition just isn't there any longer and college coaches now have very restricted travel budgets. The priority will be to attend as many local games as they can and high-impact regional/national ones once allowed. If coaches come to watch a league game and your kid is slicing through mediocrity like a hot knife through butter, that doesn't tell them very much.

Correct, they should have just become part of USYS from the start....right now the GA league is just pretending to be better than it is....how can you tout partnering with USYS and yet deliver a message that GA is superior as compared to USYS NL? Very confusing and counterintuitive.

The GA league is in its infancy- they have done some innovative things with technology such as instat which will be huge in the college recruiting during Covid, some clubs offer spideo which many colleges also use. It is invaluable it’s gives coaches and players the ability to analyze and view practices and games. IMHO they have gotten a lot accomplished in a short time and with difficult circumstances like Covid. I wouldn’t count them out yet. Haters gonna hate.

Right. Except that the best teams in GA can’t beat the last place teams in ECNL.

Not a hater and not counting them out, just discussing. They didn't invent instat though, it's been around for a while, hockey & football kids been using it for years. Definitely a great idea for GA to be using it in a time where coaches can't see kids in person, but beyond that, is it enough to differentiate the league from the rest of the USYS alphabet soup?

Honest question, has the technology helped with the current recruiting class at all? I've seen the local ECNL clubs posting commitments from the 2003s & 2004s in the last few months, but I haven't seen anything from the local GA clubs regarding recent college commitments. Just curious as to how responsive college coaches are to the technology or are they still holding off with the hopes of getting to see the kids "in person"?

How exactly does INSTAT work? Always cautious with these types of things and their true utility. Thanks

You dont know how gimmicks work? Sooooo, you take really insecure parents and clubs and tell them that your product costs a fortune and is all the rage .... every college coach loves this and it is the only way to show true talent and guarantees college money for playing soccer ...... and, the parents and clubs fork over check after check until sometime down the road, the parent tells some college coach, "here, look at this ... " and the coach tells them "great, but your kid is an horrific soccer player!" and then the parent realizes that they have been duped and that the product was not something they actually needed nor asked for and, that the most important thing about selling kids in the college soccer ranks is their ability to play ... not the trashy, made up stuff that is nicely formatted on a webpage, email, or graph!

It is a huge gimmick. Coach can use your bad stats as reason to bench or demote and can ignore other players bad stats that dont align with whatever their bull**** story is.
