Agree with you. Any kid headed to D1 should without a doubt be the best player on a high school team and be a handful for opposing teams regardless of how good their high school team is.

Can't wait for the gametime ct picks for best players. Those guys get out to see a few games, have limited soccer knowledge, and are obsessed with a few kids that get write ups. Should be a good list.

it doesnt take a whole lot of knowledge to watch something and understand who the best players are- yet they seem to do a lot of work- very few others are

These coaches all know each other very well and talk all the time in regards to past and present players that they wanted and would like to see make all state.
All NE is similar. It's a u-pick-em based on who owes which coach what.

the coaches that are on this committee volunteer
they are also not on the all region comm (different set of coaches) they also arent from every conference so you are telling everyone here that coaches who may not know each other are going to vote highly for a kid they have never seen ,who may not be in their conference?
no they do their due diligence and make calls to multiple coaches who have seen said kid play and they rate them
they do this for every first team conference kid- thats how they pick the squad, a rating system
BTW your rating in all conference also comes into play

Not everyone will be happy no matter the outcome. However, in a shortened season, I really question a lot on this list. I think this is a boys club when it comes to coaches. Clearly players chosen based on who is in the boys club. I say that as a boy too. Some of you need to wake up to 2020.

3 years ago, a kid played at east Hartford. Very good player. Should have been all state. Did not even get all conference. No awards.
Went to Boston College and played most of the games as a freshman and started 1/2 of them.
The next season he was a starter
One of the best players on the field for BC
He got no awards in High School and should have.
I look at the current list of all state and most are not college material
Yet I know players at my club going D1 who were not All State.

All state is a high School award- what this kid did or did not do in college is imaterial
taking your story at face value, this kid as a D! prospect should have been able ,on athleticism alone, to stand out . if as you say he didnt even make all conference then there was a problem, with him or with his HS coach
you arent giving up all the info

There's a degree of politics but it's much less that what one poster keeps claiming. Yes a few kids get ignored that shouldn't and a few on the list that shouldn't be,. But overall it's probably about 2/3s deserving, 1/3 questionable/interchangeable wit a few other players. It's also by it's nature subjective. It's not like HS track or swimming where your record is your record. Certain positions also get overlooked more often.
That said, yes this year is a bit f'd up. Older kids, especially seniors are pretty well known in this small state. Younger players wouldn't be but it's very rare that a freshman or sophomore makes all state anyway. Conference awards for younger players would be appropriate because other conference coaches would have seen them play. Younger players have next year and beyond to shine.
