Nonsense. Ever-increasing tuition pays for that. Fordham Univ. now has a sticker price of $75k. FORDHAM UNIVERSITY!?!?!!?!

College football and basketball players should get paid. What % of LSU football players graduate with a degree? It's a joke.

Students and families are increasingly asking where their money is going. Having big sports is seen by many as a "nice to have" not a "need to have."

You don't hear about the youth spit out by international soccer academies nearly as much as it happens, but if it was so worthwhile, promising, and financially sensible, I suppose you wouldn't have so many internationals banging down the doors at our universities to play college. Sorry soccer has never caught on here but ruining our other sports shouldn't make you feel better, loser.
Many football and basketball players never earn a degree. Colleges spit out as many unqualified "student athletes" as those soccer academies. Even fewer make it to the pros. Why should other students have to subsidize athletics - in the above example you can't tell me Fordham is making money on athletics - or help develop pro players?

College is the last place you go if you want to be a pro soccer player, so why should it be different for the NBA or NFL?

Several kids from our school go to Bama , but definitely not our best and brightest and let's say in the more "social" groups. It's ranked 143 on US News. There's lots of big sports schools that have better academics - including Clemson (74), but also schools like Notre Dame (19), USC (24), UCLA (20), Ohio State (53) and others

This biotch is fake like the the Biden’s and the main stream media. The article has been retracted. When she was 23, she pulled a Biden and plagiarized work. Now in this piece, she told one of the subjects in the story to make up an extra kid, a son and, to lie to the fact checkers.

Despite the controversy the piece did touch a nerve with snowplow FC parents who do many of the same things with their kids athletics or other activities, hiring pricey consultants, hiring $200/hour SAT tutors etc.

Why the magazine gave her a 2nd chance is incomprehensible.

Dude...if FC parents have coin, how should they spend it? Spending on their kids to ensure they say in the top 1% is a good use of the money

Not all have that kind spending power. I've seen families of more modest means get caught up in the nonsense in all sports.

If parents knew the real deal in 8th grade they'd sock their money away for college and a good SAT tutor rather than pricey club soccer

Parents do know the deal- they know the deal from other parents ,clubs ,seminars, Guidance counselors, life etc...
do you think the other stuff isnt happening at the same time?

if you said some over appreciate their kids athletic ability ,i would agree- but they know exactly what the deal is and choose it willingly
