Some tournaments use State Cup championships as a measure of whether teams get in. Think Disney maybe even Jeff Cup. Not sure they care about how few teams are in or what the quality is. So as ridiculous as it is, there is a reason behind clubs entering. And don't get me wrong, it's completely ridiculous.

As ridiculous as those same tournaments giving prefered treatment and placement in upper divisions to clubs like FSA and Alby, right?

Also for smaller clubs they can use this as a marketing example compared to similar quality teams. Not everybody plays for the top club, so for the smaller state level teams, players/families still like to play on the "best" team on that level.

Can say it still is not the best soccer, but when comparing the teams that do win vs the other teams in the same league it is their barometer of success.

Anything related to CJSA and those boneheads should be avoided at all costs

But it's totally misleading. If they are using it as a marketing tool and saying that they won state cup it implies something different than what really happened.

Depends on how they market it. If they are saying they are the best in the state then you are correct. If they are saying they are the best in their league then they would be correct.

Even that isn't true "Best in their league"

Only teams that enter the Cup play in the Cup.

Some of these "State Cups" only had 2 or 3 teams enter. I think one of the "Cups" had 5 teams and 4 of them were CFC.

True, but could be a cost factor that a even lower team doesn't want to spend the money because they don't think they could win it, or the cost of having to travel to regionals/nationals whatever it is.

Seems like when looking at the teams that do win the cups are near the top in their leagues.

Not that bad but the U15 Boys Division had 5 teams, 3 were CFC Teams.
"AC Connecticut Metro" won that title

Yeah, regardless, still gives the kids a chance to experience something different if they win these and play different teams outside of the state they normally wouldn't play.

Seems like clubs who are eligible to.participate do. Even if they decide not to go to the next round it's a great experience for the kids. Its not their fault the soccer landscape is such a cluster phuk

That’s false. Not all eligible clubs participate

I read one parent post that “if we win in Colorado we will be the best in the country”.

I didn’t have the heart to tell them that US Club is only one of many national championships. Also only teams in the top bracket can really truly even have a chance
