I work in the Governor’s office and he is not pleased with the pre-travel testing. The State Police have received orders to station multiple cruisers at the borders to record incoming license plates for follow up cross referencing with the EZ-Pass system.

Stay off the highways people. Backroads are key.

Any MA plate coming back across the border from ME, NH, NY and RI is fair game. The plate readers on State Police vehicles grab every car’s plate in a 360 degree perimeter. People at borders are very easy to keep track of. The Pike, 84, 93 and 95 will be littered with Johnny Law. Good luck friends.

OK, perhaps they should go after uninsured drivers and stolen cars then. Yeah, doesnt work so great either does it? You make it sound as if these guys are IT pros that can easily scan in and cross reference a few million vehicles because they feel like it ... its the state for petes sake! Great, they got 3 million license plates read .... they either have a violation or warrant or show up as stolen in the current system or they dont. Did Trooper Dave write a utility yesterday to monitor and coordinate GPS locations of license plate readers around our borders to do the math when the same vehicle comes and goes multiple times to go to work? The truant officers and social workers will be really busy this weekend tracking down the cars that came in on 95 and left on another unmarked road .... tons of OT for our state workers just in time for xmas!

Yah, because it's so much riskier to go to New Hampshire or Maine than it is to go to Framingham. The travel restrictions in the Northeast are totally ridiculous.

                Are the casinos still open?

Are there even general restrictions? I think as long as you're not staying over night/under 24 hours for personal or business that's all. It's impossible to police all the border crossings nor should they. RI tried to restrict it for about five minutes in the spring. It's not only impossible but you can't restrict businesses and people who generally need to travel for work etc. Ski-resorts will get crushed if out of staters can't come this winter, even if for just the day. They managed last time because it was the end of th season. Maybe if you got pulled over for something else, but unless EasyPass has a built in flag system for cross state border crossings how would the state even know? And that's just for Easy Pass - there's how many other roads that cross over state lines?

Sorry this is unconstitutional. There are a plethora of reasons someone could be traveling to and through MA on a daily basis and profiling or stopping a car based on its license plate is unlawful.

They are merely floating these stories in order to hopefully lessen some traffic.
                          Do you wear a mask?

A license plate is in plain view for the public or police to see and photograph.

As a condition of operation the owner registers his/her motor vehicle and provides a residential address.

There is an Executive Order that disallows travel to non-lower risk states for non-critical life activities without quarantining upon return or receiving a negative test result from a PCR Covid test.

The 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution and multiple Supreme Court cases provide the state legal authority to restrict movement of citizens during a pandemic in the interest of public safety.

Explain to me how following up with citizens that travel anywhere but Vermont for Thanksgiving by visiting their home and ensuring compliance with the Executive Order is “unconstitutional?”
