It’s like a bad episode of jersey shore listening to them scream at the refs, our players, their coach, their own kids, and of course, each other.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is any of the southern teams like NCFC or Top Hat. Those parents will chat you up and compliment the kids from the opposing team during the game.
DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! Always an entertaining (I use that term loosely) game on and off the field when they're in your kid's bracket.

Heard Boston bolt U12 parent arrested over the weekend at Forekicks at U12 Futsal academy Showcase.
Tried or grabbed player from the other team by the neck and then the cops were called to arrest her.

Um, some team parents are pretty crazy.

I know one that emails the DOC and lists out names of kids who are missing games. Who tells the team coaches if goalkeepers aren't going to goalkeeping practice. Who shares off season injury information with coaches.

All in an effort to get team parents kid ahead.

Hands down most parents whose kids are on a successful U11 team. They think winning a decent tournament or state title means all their kids will get D1 scholarships.

Add me to the Bayside list! Crazy drunk for an 11:00 game, kicked out of the facility, threatening a 15-year old ref.

From a popcorn-eating perspective, it was awesome.

As a lesson for society, troubling.

You are so right. Been there with them. The sad part is most don’t know that a third of the team won’t even be playing soccer by the time they get to high school and another third’s parent will have stormed them off in a huff to another club or been cut by then. The euphoria fades all too quickly.

Actually the craziest year is the U13 year, not the U11

Coming from a daughter who is on a u11 team- this is very true. I hear all the parents talking about scholarships and schools and all I can think is how crazy and delusional they are.

U12 can still be really bad, but by U13 everyone has moved to a11v11 field (doesn't go well for some players) and puberty starts to impact some players). By U14 reality has truly settled in. Many U11s aren't even playing by U14-15.

The Development Academy is making things worse. No team play all individual play.
Everyone is trying to show off they are better than the next kid. Parents think their kids is going to be the next super star at u12 and u13.

Soccer is a team sport so the kids need to learn to use individual skill in the context of team play.No one in America plays enough soccer to be a Messi or Ronaldo but they could turn out to be a Geoff Cameron - good size, tough, technical and tactical proficient .
