MA high school soccer canceled

More than half of the starters on our town's team are club players and the rest are good to strong athletes. Many surrounding towns are similar. The games are decent - not high level club caliber but fine from a quality perspective. More importantly - they are fun for the kids. Too often we forget that having fun is reason enough to do something.

Perhaps not this year, but HS soccer gets dozens if not hundreds of spectators (besides the players' parents) -- even the best club don't get that. Plus, more likely than not, your kid is not playing in college (at least varsity/NCAA level) - just like mine when they opted to go to better academic schools (D1) with no shot at making the team vice D3 where they both had been recruited by several schools.

So if your kids' pinnacle are some ultimately meaningless club game and a HS rivalry or tournament game, you come to appreciate HS soccer, even if it's lower "soccer" quality.
