Side 1: A player should have to try out, train, and contribute over the entire season to be part of the HS team
Side 2: My player is a GDA superstar and she'll do whatever she wants and F everybody else. The rules don't apply to us
You appear to be the cheerleader for Side 2. Good luck with that. Hope you have evidence of participation in those 10 regular season games.

My daugher doesn't play GDA. Just club. Starts for her high school as a freshman. Goes to her HS practices and/or games, then goes to her club training which has been pared down to only twice a week during HS season and the club team doesn't play league games because of high school. So she really doesn't need to miss any club practices.
So this week for instance, which is unusually hectic with 3 HS games (usually only 2)
Monday - 90 minute school practice which consists of some ball work and light work
Tuesday - HS game from 3:30-5:30. Club training from 8-9:30
Wed - HS game from 3:30-5:30.
Thursday- Club training from 8-9:30
Friday- HS game from 3:30-5:30

So to my eyes (and I very critical), it was verifiable proof that we made the right choice.
To be clear about one point. We got very lucky with an excellent new coach who recognized my son's ability and coincidentally trains at the gym my son (due to more free time) signed up at. The coach has given him free one on one fitness training and they practice soccer skills at the gym also. We are very fortunate in this regard but that good fortune came because we realized DAP just wasn't getting the job done and were willing to leave to try other avenues with the objective of working to find the best means of making him the best possible player.
