Have you seen the size of MLS rosters?

    If not, check DA website.

Relegated to a DA B league and still forced to pay high costs and skip HS. Now the rules make less and less sense for kids in non-MLS clubs.
One of the biggest selling points for DA is that you will.play the top teams, including against pro clubs. Take that away for the B teams and is just like any other league but with more restrictions. Top players already were and will continue to go to the top teams. That cannot be stopped nor does USSF want it to stop. They only care about the top players. I agree this is a huge blow to the rest who aren't in the A group

More strong players will now seek out and make the trek to play in the new holy grail league despite major inconveniences. Conversely many good players that will not make MLS teams will also no longer see the value of skipping HS to play in the DA B league ...... Especially in the pre-academy leagues which are now effectively DA C leagues. DA juat screwed itself.

It would not be surprising if next year DA allows HS play for non MLS clubs. Again, assimilating themselves back into every other league, but they will have to in order to stay relevant with large numbers of clubs to generate money for the MLS teams which will soon be incurring far more costs for travel to play each other. Mark my words.

Agree this a very finite number of spots. But It's the other way around. There are kids NYCFC and Red bulls would love to have but they stay at their local non-MLS club because cost benefit to stay local vs travel to MLS team.

Just because MLS comes calling does not mean everyone jumps. Used to be "well you going to be in the same league and play them and same exact teams why travel. Jsut stay local and be the BS superstar.

              This may tip the scale.

This is applicable to a very small percent of players but it will make it even harder for club like Beach-side and Oakwood to hold on to those super studs at the older ages. Take top player from BS for each age group away it will hurt.

Those role players who were already willing to travel at MLS clubs will be replaced with kids who might actual compete day to day for spots for the current MLS studs.

Doubtful. They only care about the development of top players anyway and USSF's hatred of HS soccer is quite clear no matter who the player is. They're more about power and market share. That said, this will take many mid level players out of the B clubs who no longer see DA as distinct from any other league. If some still want ten months of training, sure its there, but not much else. Some players will see the restrictions as no longer worth it.

DA is too big to begin with. If it's really supposed about developing the nation's top talent there are far too many players and clubs in the league that shouldn't be there - and that frankly USS doesn't care about anyway. Many were put in place solely for geographic reasons. If this causes the league to shrink that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But, we are not the rest of the world. Our professional soccer league is mostly not profitable. Who will pay for the travel for a 20-30 MLS-affiliated clubs to play each other week in and week out. This is why USSF panders to the lower classes and requires pay-to-play ...... the DA fees just got higher in the future.

USSF could subsidize costs for MLS clubs if they wanted. As it is almost every MLS club pays for everything, including travel. They're spending a fortune to train 100+ boys every year and they might get one homegrown every 3-5 years. Even when they do they can't profit much from it. It's no wonder MLS clubs are fed up - lousy competition for their players and a huge expense for them

Hey big guy - we're talking about boys. OW boys did ok because the NE is weak. Just wait and see how they do nationally. It won't be pretty. The girls did well because some of the competition is gawd awful, and will only get worse next year. Being the top dog in a small state is no real feat

Why don't we have a parade for them, give them all trophies and then just call it a day then, especially Empire?

Yes the East Coast lost PDA and Stars but now has Albertson and Seacoast. That plus Empire and LISC. Winning records for all!
