Thanks for the info. I guess the Virginia Rush parents would know. It doesn't really affect our club since we play in the SE conference, but it does show that clubs are now going to be dropped from ECNL or that it is a club's choice they can make on their own.

If Las Vegas Premiere stays then they will prob add Jax/PV. If Las Vegas Premiere drops then no adds this year.

However, that would be nine in the conference if no more additions are made and no club is moved to another conference. An odd number leaves a club without a travel partner which has happened before. It's a bit more difficult for the club without the travel partner.

Its not much different. The second game of each weekend is against a fresh team instead of playing a team that played the previous day. Its a bit worse then having a Non-competitive travel partner.

You are right, it's not that different except for the club without the travel partner. It's also a bit more difficult when teams have travel a distance to that club to play one game.

I just clicked on the link. Virginia Rush doesn't have one team that will go to the National Qualifier in Seattle. Unlike OCYS they've been in ECNL since the beginning. It doesn't work out for every club. Virginia Beach would seem to me to be a relatively small market. It not huge city. There are a few ECNL clubs not too far away. It's a military community which could mean that they have a higher rate of players moving away than what other clubs do. So, it could be that some things worked against them. I just wish the club luck from here on out.

Hampton Roads(of which Virginia Beach is a part) has a population of about 1.7 million and is the sixth largest metropolitan area in the Southeastern United States after Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, FL MSA, Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, GA MSA, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL MSA, Orlando-Kissimmee, FL MSA, and Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC MSA.

The problem had nothing to do with market size, it had everything to do with poor leadership. They lost some great coaches and spread the remaining staff super thin over the past few years. They were also losing better players to other clubs, not military turnover. The allure of the ECNL and the USSDA wasn't enough to get most of those players to switch because they knew the Rush teams were poor.

The fact is the club was told to merge with Beach earlier this year and they couldn't get it done because of all the bridges they burned earlier. In contrast, the Richmond Strikers and Kickers completed a merger and saved both the ECNL and the USSDA within the last year despite a long history of bad blood.

I think it's more likely to happen this year then not and I won't say anymore.
