Can someone tell me what level the USA League is at in comparison to other leagues in the area. My child has been asked to play as a guest player for a team that is in the USA League, but I don't want her to play if it is regressive soccer.

This thread was started by the same person that has been trying to egg people on the celtic thread and no one is responding. Must have an axe to grind and can't get over one of his kids not making the team. Troll

I have a 14 year old son that played in the USA league from U9 thru U13 and is now in CDL. I also have 10 year old son that played 4 years of USA and is now in CDL at U11. My opinion is that CDL is a step up with the top teams. However, there are a few teams in USA that could compete with top CDL teams. There are some bad teams in CDL and they get stomped by the better teams, which become meaningless games to the top teams. Overall the CDL league is better, I just wish they could have more of the better teams in the area. There are just not enough really good teams in the area to have two leagues. CDL has %70 of the better teams and USA %30. Then when you take away the older players to DA and some teams in FPL, it further waters down the competition.

USA League is for beginners, it is sub par soccer when compared to other area leagues. It is littered with the bottom tier clubs such as Largo, Oldsmar, Celtic, Lee County, Hernando, Citrus United. If your child has skills, you should switch clubs if the club your at is locked into the USA League.

Doesn't matter much from U-9 to U-12/13. Both USA and CDL's top half have good teams the bottom teams are weak in both leagues. As they get older both league's get watered down and the best competition go to the state league's like NPL, ECNL, ect. If you look at Region C winners last few years you can find teams from leagues winning. State Cup U-13 and up is a different story.

My kid has played in the USA League, CDL, NPL, and FSPL. We had some great competition in the USA League from U9 to u12, but that was back when CDL did not start until U13.
The problem is not with the USA League in and of itself. The USA league is probably the best structured with its different divisions and relegation. The problem is with the number of leagues being run that they do not have consistent competition across the board. The level of competition in CDL has reduced with more teams playing NPL and FSPL.
I would personally like to see just two leagues. That would be one state level league for teams ranked in the top 15 in the state and a local league with divsions and relegation. This would give everyone competitive games and limit travel where it is not needed. This would do away with the club based leagues that have a combination of top teams in the state playing with some D2 teams. There is no need for a team to travel the state when there is relative competition right next door.
The problem is that this solution would require several leagues to close and remaining leagues would have to open up membership to everyone. This would be best, but greedy folks will not let this happen.

No way any skilled player should be playing in the USA League after U12, your retarding your skill base and not playing above average competition. After U12 the USA League is basically a step above rec soccer.

wow. somebody with a solution rather than just bashing. It's a great concept. now if only the clubs could get past their ego's and do something that would benefit the whole area of youth soccer. too many leagues, too watered down.

Weak clubs are in the USA League in the Tampa area, Rangers, Celtic, Dunedin, Everton, PCU, etc. It would be a waste of my money and my daughters time for her to have to play in a league with clubs like these.
